Amazon Web Services has launched a web platform and mobile app for immigration declarations in Thailand.

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), has announced the Thailand Immigration Management System (THIM), the country's first web-based platform and mobile app for immigration management built on AWS. Travelers can download the app from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Developed by Digital Identity in collaboration with the Immigration Bureau of Thailand, this product utilizes AWS cloud computing services to modernize immigration processes in Thailand, particularly in Bangkok, the city projected to receive the most international visitors in the world by 2025.

Accordingly, the THIM system is now available for download in a pilot phase, allowing entrants to complete their declarations in just three minutes, providing a smoother and more convenient experience at border crossings. This marks the first time international visitors to Thailand can declare their entry online before landing. The application currently supports English, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese, with more languages ​​to be added in the future.

THIM's architecture leverages AWS services deployed in the AWS Asia Pacific (Bangkok) Region across three pillars: Document authentication: Optical character recognition (OCR) technology with AI applications helps extract passport information, supporting the e-KYC process.

Computing and orchestration capabilities: Amazon EC2 provides flexible, scalable computing power, Amazon EKS powers containerized applications, and Elastic Load Balancing ensures high availability—especially important during peak travel seasons.

Security and compliance: Amazon GuardDuty continuously monitors threats, AWS Security Hub manages overall security status, and AWS Key Management Service (AWS KMS) and AWS Certificate Manager (ACM) encrypt end-to-end and secure connections between systems, protecting sensitive data such as passport numbers.

THIM is envisioned to become a comprehensive digital service center for the Immigration Department, with planned features such as online appointment scheduling, visa extension (e-Extension), issuance of transaction certificates, and many other digital services related to immigration…
