According to the prediction of Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung, the admission standard score of top universities will decrease from 3 to 5 points. Many schools will have low standard scores, while middle-ranking schools are expected to have a standard score that fluctuates from 3 to 4 points.

The 2025 Admissions Council of the Academy of Finance plans to reduce the entrance score threshold by about 1 point to accompany candidates. The benchmark score range may range from 22 to 28 points and not be as concentrated as in 2024 (from 26.03 to 26.85 on a 30-point scale and 34.35 to 36.15 on a 40-point scale). Thus, the benchmark scores of some training majors of the Academy of Finance may decrease by 3 to 4 points compared to last year. A wide score range will be an opportunity for candidates to confidently register for the right major to improve their chances of being admitted to the academy.

Information from the Admissions Council of Thang Long University said that the council will consider lowering the admission score in 2025. Accordingly, the admission score will be based on the general score range and there will be adjustments to suit and ensure the opportunity to be admitted for candidates. Foreign Trade University also said that the school will consider adjusting the floor score of 24 combinations of 3 subjects, after the high school graduation exam scores are available.

However, up to this point, experts say that no one can confirm exactly how the benchmark will increase/decrease.

How to arrange wishes properly?

One of the questions that many candidates want to be answered at this time is how to choose and arrange their wishes appropriately when this year, the admission methods take place at the same time after the exam scores are available, while in previous years, candidates who were admitted early to their favorite major or school only needed to put it in the first wish position when re-registering on the Ministry of Education and Training's system.

At the direct consultation session for university admission registration in 2025 held on July 10, admissions consultants all emphasized that at this time, candidates need to list the necessary time frames. For wishes, do not register too little or too much. Many candidates are confident in their own abilities so they only register 1-2 wishes, which is very risky. Dream wishes, moderate wishes and safe wishes, it is best to have about 10 wishes.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Thuy, Head of Admissions and Communications Department, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, said that candidates do not need to pay too much attention to admission methods, what candidates need to do is choose the right major, the right school and fill in the information on the information portal of the Ministry of Education and Training. "Never think that being admitted by high school graduation is more "top" than other methods. In my opinion, the "top" is being admitted to the first choice."

In addition, this expert also noted that many candidates often choose their favorite school but forget to choose their passion field. That leads to a lack of passion and motivation. The most important strategy is to choose your wishes based on your favorite field and gradually reduce them. "In my opinion, 5 to 7 wishes are appropriate. In addition, before determining whether that field of study is suitable for you, you need to consider the current context. Choose a suitable place to study, evaluate the teaching staff, training program, facilities; suitable for the cost and family circumstances", Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thuy said.

MSc. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Deputy Head of Admissions - Communications and Business Relations Department, University of Finance - Marketing, also noted to candidates that there are no schools providing information on admission methods and admission combinations on the system. When considering admission, schools will choose the combination that candidates have the best results for, as long as their combination is suitable for the school's admission method. Therefore, not having schools providing information on admission methods and admission combinations will be convenient for candidates. When registering, candidates should register their first choice for their favorite major/school and gradually reduce the number of choices to the next choices. Candidates need to follow the information on the school's website about converting foreign language certificate scores to take advantage of the admission process.

- From July 16 to 5:00 p.m. on July 28, 2025, candidates can register, adjust, and add admission wishes (NVXT) an unlimited number of times. All NVXTs of candidates entering training institutions (CSĐT) will be processed on the System and each candidate will only be admitted to the highest wish among the registered wishes when ensuring the admission conditions.

- From July 29 to 5:00 p.m. on August 5, 2025, candidates must pay the admission fee according to the number of NVXT candidates online according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training;

- Before 5:00 p.m. on August 30, 2025, confirm admission on the System: All admitted candidates (including direct admission candidates) must confirm admission on the System (if they wish to study).

- From September 1, 2025 to December 2025, candidates who need to apply for additional admission rounds of the CSDT, follow the admission information posted on the CSDT's admission information page (if the CSDT conducts additional admission, candidates who have passed the entrance exam and confirmed their enrollment will not be considered for additional admission, except in cases where the head of the CSDT allows not to enroll).
