These days, shops and bookstores in the province have been crowded with parents and students looking to buy textbooks, reference books, notebooks and school supplies to prepare for the new school year. Walking around shops and bookstores in Yen Bai , Nam Cuong, Lao Cai wards, textbooks and reference books from grades 1 to 12 are on sale quite fully and diversely.

This year, parents tend to buy books early, usually most concentrated on weekends and afternoon rush hour. At Tam Lien Book and Stationery Store at km4, Dien Bien Street, Yen Bai Ward, the shelves of books for each level of education are arranged and organized scientifically. In particular, there is a separate display shelf for textbooks of the new general education program to help parents and students easily observe and choose. Since the end of May, the store has fully prepared all kinds of books and equipment for the new school year.
In addition to pre-packaged textbooks, we also flexibly sell retail. Sales staff are trained and equipped with knowledge about textbooks, supporting and advising students and parents to choose books suitable to the conditions and characteristics of each school, ensuring the correct, sufficient and quality purchase.
At the Sun Book Supermarket, Lao Cai Book - Educational Equipment Joint Stock Company, the shopping atmosphere was equally bustling. While buying books for her child, Ms. Dao Thi Thanh Luong, in Sub-area 9, Cam Duong Ward, said: “This year my child is in first grade. Although it is the first grade, the school where my child studies has sent a list of books, so shopping is easier. I took the opportunity to buy early so that my child has enough books and necessary learning tools for the new school year.”
To proactively supply textbooks and supplementary books for the 2025-2026 school year, Lao Cai Educational Equipment and Books Joint Stock Company has coordinated with the education sector to survey students' textbook needs, thereby developing a plan and proactively ordering textbooks and reference books. Thanks to its proactive supply, the Company has supplied books to stores and agents since June 2025. Currently, the Company has delivered to schools and bookstores in Lao Cai province (old), reaching about 70% of the plan, basically meeting the demand for textbooks in the new school year.
In 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training will complete the 2018 General Education Program, accordingly, applying new textbooks to all grades. Of which, the 3 sets of books "Connecting knowledge with life", "Canh Dieu" and "Chan troi sang tao" will remain the same, helping parents feel secure that they will not incur costs to replace books like in the first years of implementing the new program.
In addition, the 2018 General Education Program has been completed, so students can reuse old books, so the amount of textbooks and reference books imported by companies and bookstores in the province is less.
Compared to the previous school year, the prices of textbooks and reference books this year have been adjusted down by about 5% by publishers; each set of books costs from 145,000 VND/set to about 400,000 VND/set depending on the grade level and publisher. This is a price that many parents consider reasonable and less of a burden compared to the first years of implementing the new textbook program.

Along with textbooks, many parents and students also choose to buy school supplies for the new school year. At stores, school supplies are sold in large quantities, with a variety of types and designs, ensuring the best shopping needs of parents and students.
Products of domestic brands such as Thien Long, Hong Ha, Ben Nghe, Bai Bang... are favored by consumers because of their diverse designs and good quality. School bags, backpacks, and school bags have not changed much compared to the same period last year, averaging from 200,000 - 300,000 VND/product depending on design and material.
Stores and bookstores all apply promotional programs, offering many attractive incentives to attract customers... It is worth noting that, currently, on e-commerce platforms, a variety of books and school supplies are also advertised and sold. However, parents and students should go to reputable stores to choose books to buy, to avoid buying fake books, poor quality books, and pirated books.

With the proactive preparation of suppliers, price stabilization policies and incentive programs, the back-to-school season market this year has many positive signals. Not only does it reduce spending pressure for parents, but it also contributes to starting a new school year that is exciting, complete and convenient for students.
