At the "Warm Clothes for the Border Winter" volunteer program held on December 24, 2025, in Cao Loc commune, organized by the Youth Union and Student Association of Lang Son College in coordination with the Youth Union of the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police), Thanh Loa Border Guard Post, and the Youth Union of Cao Loc commune, a series of activities took place. Among them, young people from these units distributed over 100 gift packages to policy beneficiary families and poor households, set up a "zero-cost" booth to serve the people; provided free medical examinations, health consultations, and medicine to disadvantaged people and students in the area. The total value of these activities was nearly 100 million VND.
While quickly rearranging new notebooks at the "zero-cost" booth, Truong Thanh Hien, a student from Lang Son College, shared: "Participating directly in the volunteer team in Cao Loc commune has helped me learn a lot about discipline and the spirit of service. Seeing the people and students happy to receive medical check-ups and gifts, I feel very happy to be involved in this meaningful charitable activity."
Not only in the above program, but over the years, the Youth Union and Student Association of Lang Son College have coordinated and organized many volunteer activities, strongly promoting the role of union members and youth in serving the community.
Ms. Hoang Bich Diep, Secretary of the Youth Union of Lang Son College, said: Currently, the College's Youth Union has nearly 2,000 members. Every year, the volunteer activities coordinated and implemented by the College's Youth Union are focused, targeted, and in-depth, attracting a large number of students to participate. The volunteer programs focus on practical tasks, thereby creating an environment for skill development while making a positive contribution to social welfare work in the locality.
According to our research, in the past three years, the entire province has seen over 800,000 young people and youth union members participate in major volunteer activities and campaigns such as: "Youth Month," "Summer Youth Volunteers," "Voluntary Blood Donation," "Winter Volunteers," "Spring Volunteers," "March Border Journey," and other activities expressing gratitude and repaying kindness... These campaigns and activities have been implemented continuously and extensively, creating a vibrant volunteer movement from urban to rural areas.
Among these, volunteer activities in border areas are considered a distinctive highlight of the province's youth. For example, to date, the youth of the province, including students, have participated in the construction of 56 youth projects in border areas; planting and caring for more than 5,700 bamboo trees along the border, making a significant contribution to protecting territorial sovereignty , improving the landscape, and creating additional livelihoods for people in the border regions of the country.
At the same time, the student force has always been at the forefront of new and challenging tasks. In the last five years, this team has participated in thousands of projects in rural development, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and community health care, with a total value of over 20 billion VND.
Mr. Hoang Van Hue , a resident of Hoang Trung block, Tam Thanh ward, said: "In July 2025, the Youth Union and Student Association of Lang Son College coordinated with the ward's Youth Union to carry out a volunteer program in the block with the youth project 'Bright Lights - Safe Roads'. This project has helped residents in the block travel more conveniently, especially contributing to ensuring security and order. We are very happy to have supported this meaningful project."
Comrade Doan Thanh Cong, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, and Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of the province, affirmed: Volunteer activities for social welfare are a central and continuous task of the province's youth, including students in the area. In the coming time, we will continue to focus on orienting the work of the Youth Union and youth movements in schools to go deeper, especially maximizing the expertise of students in volunteer activities such as healthcare, education, and technology... Through this, we help them both contribute and hone their skills, making practical contributions to the overall development of the province.
It is evident that each trip and each activity undertaken by the youth of the province in general, and the student force in particular, not only brings material value to the community but also serves as a journey of self-improvement and growth for the younger generation. We believe that with their youthful energy, intelligence, and compassion, the student volunteer movement will continue to spread strongly, contributing to creating warm springs and building a more sustainably developed Lang Son province.
