Ngo Thanh Nhan is one of the rare contemporary Vietnamese artists who possesses a long and exceptionally solid foundation of experience. Graduating from the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts in 1979, he belongs to the generation of artists who matured during a pivotal period in modern Vietnamese art – a time when tradition and the spirit of innovation went hand in hand.

With over four decades of dedicated work in composition, teaching, and research, Ngo Thanh Nhan has not only accumulated professional skills to a mature level but has also developed a profound, consistent, and powerful artistic mindset.
In his lacquer paintings, viewers easily encounter the soul of simple yet deeply emotional life. Ancient street corners, sailboats in the sunlight, daily activities, and familiar figures are not explicitly depicted, but evoked through layers of lacquer, color, and gold interwoven like layers of memory. Under Ngo Thanh Nhan's hand, lacquer becomes a profound, vibrant story, preserved and petrified beneath a smooth, glossy lacquer, allowing emotions to accumulate, be retained, and resonate through the years.

During the opening of his two solo exhibitions in Ho Chi Minh City, co-organized with The plARTform, Ngo Thanh Nhan was warmly received by both domestic and international audiences, not only for his solid craftsmanship, strong artistic foundation, and highly refined lacquer techniques, but also for the themes that resonated deeply with the Vietnamese people.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, Ngo Thanh Nhan's art conveys a profound and golden meaning: honoring the pure beauty of Vietnamese culture, of simple yet enduring things, and of quiet yet strong human relationships.

The exhibition will open on December 21st and 22nd, 2025, organized by the plARTform (54 Ky Con Street, Thai Binh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
