The VnExpress Marathon Can Tho 2026 left many positive impressions on the athletes.
From early morning on the official competition day, the central streets of Can Tho City became bustling with the arrival of approximately 10,000 athletes from both Vietnam and abroad. Under the lights before the start, groups of athletes warmed up, checked their equipment, and encouraged each other, ready to conquer the challenging routes. The music, the cheers, and the excitement evident on the athletes' faces created a vibrant and emotional atmosphere.
One of the highlights of this year's tournament was the well-organized and systematic approach to organization. From traffic management and security to medical services and logistics, everything was meticulously prepared, contributing to a safe and smooth event. The seamless coordination between all forces also left a friendly image of Can Tho City in the eyes of athletes and tourists.
The organizing committee arranged 23 water stations, 14 medical stations, and 300 personnel from the coordination team to ensure operation, safety, and support. More than 1,000 volunteers, doctors, nurses, and local police officers participated in providing support throughout the race. Drinking water, electrolytes, fruit, etc., were distributed appropriately, providing timely support to athletes in hot weather conditions.
Athlete Mao Quoc Toi from O Mon ward, Can Tho city, participating in the men's 21km race, said: "What impressed me most at the VnExpress Marathon Can Tho 2026 was the professional organization. In particular, running along the routes typical of the Mekong Delta gave me many unforgettable emotions and experiences this year."
Besides the official 5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km distances, the Kun Marathon, part of the VnExpress Marathon Can Tho 2026, also garnered much positive attention by attracting approximately 2,000 young athletes aged 6 to 10 participating in the 800m race. Their innocent running, combined with the cheers of their parents, created a joyful and intimate atmosphere. Instead of focusing on results, this children's event aimed to foster exercise habits, self-confidence, and an active lifestyle from an early age.
Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, said: “The organization of the event was carried out with high professionalism, ensuring thoroughness, quality, cost-effectiveness and efficiency. The city paid special attention to security, health, environmental hygiene, and food safety conditions to create a safe and friendly atmosphere for athletes and tourists participating in the competition.”
In recent years, the running movement in Can Tho City has developed strongly with the emergence of many amateur running clubs and large-scale races organized regularly. Following the positive impact of the VnExpress Marathon Can Tho 2026, more and more people will choose running as a habit to improve their health, balance their lives, and connect with the community.
Beyond its sporting value, the tournament also contributes to promoting the image of a dynamic city and the unique characteristics of the riverine region of Can Tho to a wide range of domestic and international tourists. The vibrant routes filled with the colors of the athletes, along with the friendly and hospitable spirit of the city, created an emotionally rich season, leaving many beautiful memories after crossing the finish line.
