He won the Bundesliga top scorer title and the European Golden Boot, and also helped Bayern Munich win a double of Bundesliga and German Cup titles.
The England captain has never scored so many goals before. His previous record was 44 goals in his first season in Munich. So what is the secret to Harry Kane's explosive season? According to Marca (Spain), the motivation behind Kane's goal-scoring prowess is... Wiener Schnitzel - a characteristic breaded and fried meat dish in German culinary culture.
Because Kane's family and friends frequently visited the Waldgasthof Hotel near his residence to enjoy the signature Bavarian dish of breaded and fried pork chops, the hotel owner, Stefan Kastner, came up with a unique idea. He promised Kane a free portion of Wiener Schnitzel for every goal he scored.
Throughout the season, the striker enjoyed 61 portions of Wiener Schnitzel. This dish consists of thin slices of meat coated in batter and pan-fried before serving. It can be made from veal, pork, chicken, lamb, beef, or turkey.
Most recently, Bayern Munich won their first German Cup final since 2020 thanks to a hat-trick from Kane. During the match, the Waldgasthof hotel held a public screening and distributed free Wiener Schnitzel to over 200 fans. Kastner told Bild: "It was a really successful evening. I'm especially happy that Harry Kane scored all three goals."
Kane also admitted that this German dish has become his favorite since arriving in Bavaria. The 32-year-old striker also expressed his gratitude for Mr. Kastner's support by giving him a signed shirt with a special message. Kane wrote: "To the Waldgasthof Hotel. Thank you for all the Wiener Schnitzel. Wishing you all the best."
