Speed up disbursement of De Gi lagoon storm shelter project

(GLO)- In 2025, the Central Government allocated 115 billion VND to Gia Lai to implement the De Gi lagoon storm shelter project. To date, the province has only disbursed 12.6 billion VND. Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 742/UBND-NNMT requesting to speed up the disbursement of the above capital source.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee directed the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Works to proactively coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MARD) and contractors to accelerate construction progress, focusing on completing items according to the approved schedule. At the same time, monthly reports on the implementation and disbursement of capital are sent to the Department of Agriculture and Environment for synthesis and timely direction from the Provincial People's Committee.

The Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and relevant agencies to advise the Provincial People's Committee to balance and arrange funds from the local budget to support compensation and site clearance for matters under the province's responsibility.

It is known that the De Gi lagoon storm shelter project located in De Gi and An Luong communes was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in November 2022. The project has a total investment of 320 billion VND, of which 300 billion VND comes from the central budget, the remaining 20 billion VND comes from the local budget for compensation and site clearance.

The project is expected to create a regional storm shelter area of 65 hectares, with a capacity of up to 2,000 fishing boats with a capacity of 300CV, ensuring safety for boats during the storm season, contributing to minimizing damage caused by natural disasters; at the same time, creating conditions to promote socio-economic development and sustainable livelihoods for local people.
