Currently, the "Infrastructure for Large-Scale Rice Production" project in Hoa Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district) is actively under construction, accelerating its progress. Specifically, this project is building a comprehensive infrastructure system including: internal field roads, irrigation and drainage canals meeting standards to ensure synchronized mechanization, serving irrigation and drainage for over 284 hectares of rice (mainly for rice seed production) in Hoa Thanh commune.
A representative from the construction unit stated: "This project commenced on December 15, 2023, and has now achieved over 80% of its volume. Specifically, 10 internal field roads have been constructed, with a total length of 6 out of 7.5 km, 1.6 km of irrigation canals and 27 culverts along the roads have been completed... The project is expected to be put into operation around May 2024."
Furthermore, the road connecting Lang Thanh commune in Yen Thanh district to Tan Son commune in Quynh Luu district, over 10 km long, is a vital route for transporting acacia and pineapple raw materials. However, for many years, this road has seriously deteriorated; heavy rains cause flooding, asphalt peeling, and potholes, affecting the travel of local people.
To facilitate travel for local residents, promote the development of acacia raw material areas, and connect trade and socio -economic development between the northern communes of Yen Thanh district such as Tien Thanh, Tan Thanh, Ma Thanh and some communes of Quynh Luu district, Yen Thanh district has been investing in upgrading this road since the beginning of 2024.
From the very beginning of the project, the construction unit has deployed manpower and machinery for construction. Despite the steep and challenging terrain, the unit is actively removing weathered soil from the road surface and proceeding with the next steps. Currently, the construction unit has removed over 60% of the weathered soil from the road. According to the plan, this road will be put into use by the end of 2025.
Currently, Yen Thanh district is focusing on completing other road projects such as the road connecting the center of Lang Thanh commune to the canal, the road connecting Nam Thanh commune to Dong Thanh commune, etc. They are also urgently completing nearly 10 reservoir projects in the communes of Kim Thanh, Tien Thanh, Dong Thanh, Vien Thanh, Ly Thanh, etc., striving to accumulate water to serve the upcoming summer-autumn rice crop.
To contribute to the implementation and completion of the goal of building advanced and model new rural areas, localities in Yen Thanh district continue to focus on investing in the construction, renovation, and upgrading of commune cultural houses and sports facilities, village cultural houses and sports facilities, and upgrading transportation infrastructure to ensure synchronous and seamless connectivity from village and inter-commune roads to district, provincial, and national highways.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Vice Chairman of the Yen Thanh District People's Committee, added: "The projects, after being put into use, have proven effective, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in the district. To date, Yen Thanh district is still facing many difficulties in land clearance for several projects. Specifically, the rescue and relief road project is currently stalled due to land clearance issues at the Testing Station and involving some households in Yen Thanh town. The compensation amount for land clearance for this project exceeds 40 billion VND, which is too much, forcing the district to temporarily halt construction.
The main road in the initial phase of Yen Thanh town is still facing land clearance issues, and National Highway 7, which runs through the district, is still facing land clearance problems involving many households… Land clearance is always a difficult and complex area, but Yen Thanh district has actively implemented solutions such as: focusing on explaining and persuading the people, and promptly providing solutions to resolve obstacles and accelerate the progress of each key project.
Building on the achievements already made, from now until the end of 2024, Yen Thanh district will continue to consolidate, improve, and enhance the quality of the existing socio-economic infrastructure system serving production and people's lives in rural areas, such as rural transportation, electricity, irrigation, schools, healthcare, clean water, and the environment. Emphasis will be placed on investing in new infrastructure construction linked to urban development, with priority given to investment in transportation, industrial, commercial, and service infrastructure.
