When the cicadas begin to chirp, young people eagerly plan their summer. Some take on part-time jobs, others learn new skills, some volunteer, and some take advantage of the time to improve themselves for the new school year. For many young people, summer is a time to rest after a stressful school year and an opportunity to experience, grow, and do meaningful things for themselves and their families.

Summer is an opportunity for young people to practice and acquire life skills.
Summer is an opportunity for young people to train and equip themselves with life skills.

Huynh Yen Nhu, a student at Cuu Long University, said that last summer she worked as a freelancer for a travel company. Her main tasks included writing articles, assisting with content posting, and contacting clients. Although the work schedule was quite busy, Yen Nhu learned many new skills in return.

"Before, I was quite shy and hesitant to socialize. After almost 3 months of working, I've become much more confident. I'm saving the money I earn to cover my study expenses, so I feel that the summer has been very meaningful," Yen Nhu shared.

Many students nowadays choose part-time jobs related to their field of study, such as tutoring, online sales, media support, or cashiering, to both earn extra income and gain experience for future careers.

Le Hoai Nhu, a student at the Western University of Construction, currently works as a sales assistant at a mobile phone store in Long Chau ward. Hoai Nhu said that she chose to work part-time during the summer to gain experience and earn extra income.

"The work is a bit tough, but in return, I've learned to be quick, careful, and more attentive to customers. These are small things, but they're essential for my future career," Hoai Nhu confided.

Besides working part-time, many young people take advantage of the summer to learn foreign languages or participate in skills training classes. This is an ideal time to supplement knowledge that they didn't have the opportunity to acquire during the school year.
perform.

Nguyen Huong Giang, a student at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics ' branch campus in the province, said that she spends about two hours each day studying English and practicing communication with international friends through social media. "English is now needed in almost every field. If you quit during the summer break, it will be very difficult to catch up when you return to school," Huong Giang said.

Besides foreign languages, short-term courses in graphic design, programming, personal finance management, makeup, and bartending also attract many young people. The classes are always lively because everyone gets to pursue their interests.

Along with earning extra income or learning skills, many young people want to make their summer more meaningful through community activities and volunteering.

Every summer, in addition to taking advantage of the opportunity to learn more about construction engineering through online courses, Nguyen Thanh Thao, a student at the Western University of Construction, participates in the exam support team, working as a teaching assistant in free English classes for children.

According to Thanh Thảo, participating in this activity helps improve communication skills and provides many memorable experiences. “Every time I see the children becoming more confident in communicating in English, I feel very happy. Summer becomes much more meaningful,” Thanh Thảo shared.

To make summer more meaningful, many young people take advantage of the opportunity to go on experiential trips with friends before the new school year begins. Because youth is the most beautiful time to explore new places and create lasting memories. Many young people choose to immerse themselves in volunteer activities to gain experience, develop skills, and grow as individuals.

Over the past summers, Truong Gia Bao, a student at Vinh Long College, has joined various youth volunteer teams to participate in local activities such as environmental protection; building green, clean, and beautiful landscapes; repairing children's playgrounds; providing guidance on drowning prevention skills; and implementing community models to combat plastic waste. "It's truly meaningful to participate in these practical activities. Initially, I thought volunteering was about helping others, but after each trip, I learn so much for myself," Gia Bao expressed.

The male student said that these trips helped him appreciate his current life more, and also taught him how to share and live responsibly towards the community.

Each summer passes in a different way, but what's important is that after the vacation, each of you gains more experiences, skills, or beautiful memories for your youth. Because time waits for no one, and youth only comes once. Therefore, plan your summer wisely so that you can both relax and grow from each experience.
