Beware of flash floods and landslides in provinces and cities from Hue to Gia Lai

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from 7:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. on December 5, the provinces and cities from Hue to Gia Lai will continue to have rain. There is a risk of flash floods and landslides in the above-mentioned areas.

Specifically, the common accumulated rainfall in Hue and Da Nang is from 5-10mm, some places over 15mm; Quang Ngai and Gia Lai is from 5-10mm, some places over 30mm. Warning of the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes in many communes and wards of Hue city including: A Luoi 2, Phong Dien.

In Da Nang city, communes and wards at risk of flash floods and landslides include: Hiep Duc, Phuoc Hiep, Phuoc Tra, Tra Leng; Ba Na, Ben Giang, Kham Duc, Phu Ninh, Son Cam Ha, Tay Ho, Tien Phuoc, Tra Giap, Tra My.

Along with that, Quang Ngai province has communes and wards at risk of flash floods and landslides including: Ba Dinh, Ba Vinh, Kon Plong, Minh Long, Son Tay, Tay Tra Bong, Thanh Bong, Thien Tin; Ba Dong, Ba Gia, Ba To, Ba To, Ba Vi, Ba Xa, Binh Chuong, Ca Dam, Dinh Cuong, Dong Tra Bong, Lan Phong, Mang But, Mo Duc, Nghia Giang, Nguyen Nghiem, Tra Cau, Phuoc Giang, Son Ha, Son Ha, Son Ky, Son Linh, Son Mai, Son Tay Ha, Son Tay Thuong, Son Thuy, Son Tinh, Tay Tra, Tra Bong, Tra Giang, Truong Giang, Ve Giang.

In addition, Gia Lai province has communes and wards at risk of flash floods and landslides including: Canh Lien, Canh Vinh, Kim Son; An Hoa, Binh Khe, Hoa Hoi.

Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, land subsidence due to heavy rain or level 1 flow.

Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.

The hydrometeorological agency recommends that local authorities pay attention to reviewing bottlenecks and vulnerable locations in the area to have prevention and response measures.

From 6:00 a.m. on December 4 to 6:00 a.m. on December 5, the provinces/cities from Hue to Gia Lai had moderate to heavy rain, such as: Rao Trang 4 Hydropower Dam (Hue city) 173mm, Phuoc Hiep (Da Nang city) 116mm, Long Mon (Quang Ngai) 135mm, Nghia Dien (Gia Lai) 105mm.

Soil moisture models show that some areas in the above provinces are close to saturation (over 85%) or have reached saturation.
