(CLO) Hundreds of locals and tourists flocked to the Viem Xa village festival (also known as the Diem village festival) in Hoa Long ward, Bac Ninh city, Bac Ninh province. This is one of the major festivals in the area, aiming to honor the value of Quan Ho folk songs of the Kinh Bac region.
Diem Village is one of the 49 original Quan Ho villages, and the only place with a temple dedicated to Queen Mother - the founder of Quan Ho. On the opening day of the festival, hundreds of locals and tourists from all over flock to the village to participate.
The Diem Village Festival consists of a ceremonial part and a festive part. The ceremonial part begins with a flag-waving procession, followed by a drum performance, reenacting the legend of Queen Mother issuing the decree to open the spring festival with the throwing and snatching of the ball.

The festival also includes a procession of the Queen Mother's throne and ancestral tablets around the village, with the participation of hundreds of people. The procession stops at the Cung Temple and Ngoc Well, where the village elders descend into the well to fetch water, then carry it back to the Queen Mother's Temple for the ritual bathing of the Queen Mother. The ceremonies are conducted solemnly, expressing reverence and prayers for the Queen Mother's protection, ensuring prosperous livelihoods, bountiful harvests, and peace and abundance for the people.
