Similar to last season, Song Lam Nghe An continues to utilize its young players to compete in the V-League 2025-2026. Without a strong reinforcement, the Nghe An team is underestimated when hosting Nam Dinh - the reigning V-League champion - in round 2 at home in Vinh.

Lam Ti Phong helped Nam Dinh open the score of the match.

Taking advantage of the home field, coach Phan Nhu Thuat's team proactively started the match quickly and soon put pressure on the away team's goal with Khac Ngoc's "cannon shot" hitting the post.

The home team started off with enthusiasm but the Vinh stadium was silent from the 9th minute, when A Mit passed the ball and Lam Ti Phong used his personal technique to dribble past the defender and then scored the opening goal for Nam Dinh. The early goal helped the away team gain more confidence to control the game, overwhelming Song Lam Nghe An .

Despite being behind early, the young players from Nghe An were still full of enthusiasm, playing with dedication and without calculation. Not willing to give up, coach Phan Nhu Thuat and his players boldly pushed up their pressing formation, played an open game with the defending champions and continuously created dangerous attacking situations for their opponents.

Song Lam Nghe An had a spectacular comeback win against Nam Dinh

Near the end of the first half, midfielder Khac Ngoc used his extensive playing experience and demonstrated his sharp passing skills, when he made a delicate pass to help teammate Van Luong run down and shoot the ball past goalkeeper Nguyen Manh, equalizing 1-1 for Song Lam Nghe An.

The game returned to balance when both teams offered dramatic "tit for tat" attacks. The important milestone of the match appeared in the final minutes, when foreign player Dale More coordinated smoothly with his teammates and fired a close-range shot, sealing a 2-1 victory for the Nghe team.

Coach Phan Nhu Thuat and his team happily brought home the first 3 points of the new season, especially when the "defeated general" of Song Lam Nghe An was the current V-League champion - Nam Dinh Club. This result brought the Vinh home team to 6th place in the rankings, with the same 3 points as Nam Dinh but temporarily behind their opponent because of the lower secondary index.
