Some notes
The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) announced that the minimum entrance scores for health-related majors and teacher training programs at the university and college levels in 2024 remain stable compared to 2023. Accordingly, the minimum score for health-related majors requiring a professional practice certificate in all combinations of three subjects is 19 points for Nursing, Preventive Medicine, Midwifery, Dental Prosthetics Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, and Rehabilitation Technology. Medicine and Dentistry have the highest minimum score (22.5 points). Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy have a minimum score of 21 points.
The minimum admission score for teacher training programs at the university level in 2024 is 19 points. However, for Physical Education , Music Education, and Fine Arts Education, the minimum score is 18 points; other admission combinations follow regulations. The minimum quality assurance threshold for the Early Childhood Education program at the college level is 17 points. This is also the minimum score for all teacher training programs at Can Tho University. In addition, some other programs at the university have minimum admission scores based on the 2024 high school graduation exam results ranging from 15 to 19 points.
In the health sciences field, the University of Public Health recruits candidates with scores ranging from 16 to 16.5 points depending on the major. For the two majors that require professional certification, the minimum admission score is 19.5 points.
Representatives from Hanoi Medical University stated that this year, the C00 and D01 subject combinations have higher high school graduation exam scores compared to last year. In its first year of admitting students to the Psychology program, the university predicts that the cut-off score for this major will be high compared to other universities offering this program. Meanwhile, analysis of the B00 subject combination shows that 311 candidates achieved 28.5 points or higher (excluding priority and incentive points), so it is predicted that the cut-off scores for top-tier majors such as Medicine and Dentistry will increase compared to last year, albeit moderately.
The minimum admission scores for many schools are slightly higher than in 2023.
Based on the score distribution for subjects and subject combinations announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2024, the number of candidates achieving 28 points in the C subject group increased sixfold, 29 points more than tenfold, and 30 points 54 times compared to 2023. With such a dramatic increase in the number of high and excellent scores compared to 2023, universities predict that the cut-off scores for the C00 subject combination (Literature - History - Geography) will likely increase significantly at many universities this year.
Specifically, among the member universities of Hanoi National University, the University of Law announced a minimum admission score of 22 points for the C00 combination and 20 points for other combinations. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities announced a minimum admission score of 20 points for all 28 majors/training programs based on high school graduation exam results. This is also the minimum score for 11 majors at the International University.
The University of Science has announced the minimum admission scores based on the 2024 high school graduation exam results, mostly at 20-21 points for 23 majors. However, four majors – Mathematics, Mathematics-Informatics, Computer Science and Information, and Data Science – with a 40-point scale (Mathematics score multiplied by a factor of 2, other subjects in the combination multiplied by a factor of 1), will have a minimum admission score of 30-31 points.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology predicts that the three majors with the highest entrance scores are Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, all exceeding 28 points. These are also the majors with the highest entrance scores in recent years at the university.
The Foreign Trade University has announced the minimum admission scores for two methods using high school graduation exam scores. Accordingly, the minimum score is 24 for the method based on high school graduation exam scores, an increase of 0.5 points compared to 2023, for three subjects. If combining exam scores with converted scores from international foreign language certificates, the minimum score ranges from 16 to 17. This is the total score for two subjects: Mathematics and one of Physics, Chemistry, or Literature, excluding priority points.
Hanoi Law University announced that the minimum admission scores based on high school graduation exam results are divided into three levels: 15, 18, and 20. The 20-point level applies to candidates applying with the C00 subject combination, and 18 for other combinations. For International Commercial Law and English Language majors, candidates need a score of 7 or higher in English. If applying to the university's branch campus in Dak Lak, a total score of 15 across the three subjects is sufficient.
Admissions experts note that the minimum score required for candidates to register for university admission is the threshold score. The official admission scores will be announced later. From now until 5 PM on July 30th, the system will officially open for candidates to register for university admission.
