TP - Immediately after announcing the admission scores, a number of universities, from public to private, announced additional enrollment targets; some schools had a "huge" number of applications.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade is considering additional admissions for two majors: seafood processing technology and materials technology, which have been difficult to recruit for many years. To attract candidates, the school will offer 50% of the first semester tuition fee to candidates admitted to these majors.

It is noted that this year, the number of candidates registering for admission to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade on the general admission system of the Ministry of Education and Training has increased dramatically with 178,294 wishes (2.5 times higher than last year). However, the number of wishes 1 (the candidates' most favorite wish) registered to the school is less than 10% (13,308 wishes).

Although the total number of applications to the school this year is "huge", there are only 13,308 first-choice applications, 16,359 second-choice applications, and 17,192 third-choice applications. There are 41,307 candidates applying to the school with 10 or more applications. The benchmark score of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade this year ranges from 17 to 24.5/30 points based on the high school graduation exam results. The two additional recruitment majors have the lowest benchmark scores in the school.

CMC University recruits 300 additional students for all majors/programs of full-time undergraduate training according to 3 methods. The score for receiving application documents based on academic records ranges from 27.30-31.40/40 points; the method for considering graduation exam results ranges from 24-28.66/40 points; the method for considering the results of the school's capacity assessment exam is 46.10-54.10/80 points.

International School ( Hanoi National University) announced to recruit 300 additional students for 6 training majors. The minimum admission score is from 19.5-20/30 points for considering high school graduation exam results. Vietnam-Japan University (Hanoi National University) recruits about 300 additional students and ends receiving applications for the first round on August 26.

There are expected to be 4 additional admission rounds. Viet Tri University of Industry will conduct additional admissions for most training majors with a score of 15. A series of non-public universities in Ho Chi Minh City have also announced additional admissions for nearly 100% of training majors. Among the additional admissions, there are many "hot" majors such as e-commerce, medicine, logistics and supply chain, computer science, semiconductor technology, etc.

Where did the candidate run to?

Statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training show that as of August 27, 592,000 candidates nationwide have confirmed their enrollment on the Ministry of Education and Training's general enrollment system. In 2024, at the end of the first enrollment period, more than 551,000 candidates have confirmed their enrollment on the system.

This year, the confirmation period is until September 30 and the number of candidates registering their wishes on the system is also about 100,000 more than last year. The total number of candidates registering their wishes on the Ministry's admission system this year is nearly 850,000, after virtual filtering, there are about 773,000 candidates admitted to universities and colleges (this data does not separate the number of candidates admitted to colleges; this year, colleges across the country participate in the general admission process on the system of the Ministry of Education and Training).

In 2024, the number of candidates confirming admission will reach 81% compared to the number of candidates admitted in the first round; the number of candidates admitted but not confirming admission will be about 122,000; 113 universities will announce additional enrollment of at least 28,000 students.

Because the number of candidates registering for admission increased by about 15% compared to 2024, but the total enrollment quota of universities also increased accordingly, experts predict that the rate of candidates confirming admission this year will be equivalent to 2024, around 80%.

This year, without early admission, the number of candidates admitted to the reserve option may be higher than last year. Candidates will have to consider choosing between pursuing their favorite option or enrolling in the “fire-fighting” option, this is a problem for universities.

In the context of tuition fees increasing according to general regulations, difficulties in accommodation and living costs in big cities, many families consider the financial burden of pursuing university and vocational training. It is predicted that many universities will continue to lack students.

Although the benchmark score for majors based on the high school graduation exam results is only 15/30 points, Dai Nam University is recruiting all 42 additional majors. In 2024, the Aviation Academy recruited 500 additional students after the first round of enrollment, and this year, it recruited 470 additional students.
