Vinh City is a bright spot.

During the war against the Americans, Vinh, Nghe An, was one of the cities in North Vietnam most heavily bombed by the American air force, with the entire city almost completely flattened. Vinh is a place of memories, with the roaring waves of the East Sea on one side and the shimmering light of the city sky on the other. During the war against the Americans, the central region felt the most heartbroken than Vinh.

After 60 years of formation and development, today, looking at Vinh, after all these years, the ruins of the past have become a Class I city, an important center in the northern central region. The photo series "Bright Spots in Vinh" by author Le Quang Dung clearly shows the transformation of Vinh. Vinh now possesses a bright and open face, reflecting the spirit of a city in the era of integration. The photo series was submitted by the author to the Happy Vietnam Photo and Video Contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications .

Standing on the upper floors of the Muong Thanh - Phuong Dong Hotel in the heart of Vinh city, looking south, a vast expanse of sky unfolds towards the Lam River. Beside the bustling Ben Thuy Bridge, the majestic Dung Quyet Mountain stands tall, a testament to the Phuong Hoang Trung Do citadel, its remnants imprinted against the blue sky—a testament to Emperor Quang Trung's unfulfilled dream of establishing a capital city. The roads from Vinh extend outwards, connecting with all kinds of transportation: road, rail, air, and water. Vinh is bustling and vibrant. Vinh has become a city that never sleeps since the country's reform and opening up. Factories, construction sites, industrial zones in North and South Vinh, and commercial centers sprang up rapidly. The inner-city transportation system was spacious and well-maintained. Roads from Vinh extended outwards, connecting to all modes of transport: road, rail, air, and water. Vinh was bustling and vibrant. Vinh became a city that never sleeps since the country's reform period. 2024 is a year of special significance for the people of Vinh City. After 60 years of construction and development, Vinh has achieved very proud accomplishments and is ready to enter a new period of development with a greater position as a coastal city.
