Meritorious Artist and director Le Duc Tien discussed solutions for incorporating Bac Ninh's heritage into cinematic works to promote tourism development.

Through the conference "Cinema – Connecting Heritage and Tourism in Bac Ninh Province," the province hopes to hear opinions and share experiences from delegates and experts; at the same time, it seeks opportunities for cooperation and proposes appropriate mechanisms and policies to attract film projects to the locality, contributing to promoting a vibrant and attractive image of Bac Ninh, while also preparing for hosting the 25th Vietnam Film Festival.

At the conference, delegates viewed a documentary providing an overview of Bac Ninh's tourism potential and a clip showcasing outstanding works from the "Heritage Moments of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiet Bac" photo contest. These visual images opened up a new perspective on the close connection between heritage preservation and tourism economic development through film and photography.

After two days of surveying several historical and cultural sites, traditional craft villages, tourist areas, and typical scenic spots in the province such as: Do Temple, But Thap Pagoda, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, Bo Da Pagoda, Tay Yen Tu, Tho Ha village… representatives of film companies, directors, screenwriters and film producers affirmed that the Kinh Bac region is a place where culture, art and history converge.

Bac Ninh has abundant potential for film development. With its beautiful scenery, ancient relics, and rich cultural identity, it provides unique material for film settings and ideal conditions for filming and film production.

Producer and actress Mai Thu Huyền proposed ideas for incorporating heritage into film projects.

Delegates shared information about film projects to be implemented in Bac Ninh. These included Cine Plus Company with the animated film project "The Great Battle of Nhu Nguyet"; and the Cultural and Educational Development Joint Stock Company with the documentary film project "Silent Footsteps," which explores the spiritual journey of the Truc Lam Zen sect in contemporary life.

Director Le Duc Tien has two film projects, "The Light of Luy Lau" and "The Emperor and Princess Huyen Tran," about Buddhism and the Tran Dynasty; screenwriter Dinh Thien Phuc has a historical film project, "Thien Do," about the establishment of the Ly Dynasty under King Ly Thai To; Muse Film Joint Stock Company is producing the film "Sister Sister," which will begin filming at the end of May with many scenes shot in Bac Ninh...

Film experts also highly appreciate the province's initiative in proactively meeting with and creating a favorable environment for film crews. Including famous landmarks and unique cultural features of Bac Ninh in films not only enhances the value of heritage but also creates a strong attraction for domestic and international tourists, promoting sustainable tourism development.

However, to truly develop a "film studio industry" and become a destination for domestic and international film crews, Bac Ninh needs to create a focal point for film settings, build historical film studios to serve the production of films with historical themes; and have mechanisms and policies to support film crews in carrying out film projects in the province…

Acknowledging and appreciating the opinions and discussions at the conference, the leaders of Bac Ninh province and the Film Department emphasized that for a locality to become a setting for films, it needs not only beautiful scenery but also cultural depth.

Bac Ninh is a land of rich culture, spiritual significance, and outstanding people. It boasts beautiful scenery, ancient relics, many UNESCO-recognized heritage sites, and a wealth of unique cultural stories. This provides valuable material for creating high-quality film settings.

To facilitate directors, screenwriters, and film crews in creating and effectively implementing film projects, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mai Son, affirmed that Bac Ninh will continue to pay attention to and provide guidance and support policies for film activities in the province. The province will also create the most favorable conditions in terms of procedures and locations for filmmakers to promote and publicize films related to Bac Ninh.

The comrade instructed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to assign relevant agencies and units to film beautiful scenery to be used as promotional material for film crews.

At the same time, we request that directors, screenwriters, and representatives of film companies continue to research and explore ways to create films on the history, culture, and lives of workers in the area; introduce investors to develop film studios; and support the development of more cinemas to serve the wider public in the province.
