Producers have bet on new "muses" hoping to create box office appeal. However, names like Uyen An, Doan Minh Anh, Mai Phuong, Doan Thien An, Tieu Vy, and Phao… despite being given great opportunities, have not had a high probability of success or leaving a lasting impression. Looking back, only a few cases like Doan Thien An have received significant recognition for their acting and audience appeal, while many other female actresses remain controversial regarding their acting ability, diction, expressions, or suitability for the characters.

Undeniably, Vietnamese cinema is trending towards a fresh cast for long-term growth. This is a positive sign because the market always needs new faces to create momentum and attract young audiences. However, the choices of many production teams haven't been as effective as desired. Instead of prioritizing suitability for the role and acting ability, many projects prioritize recognition, social media followings, or beauty pageant titles as a formula for attracting media attention.
As a result, many leading actresses enter their roles with noticeable immaturity. Some have beautiful appearances but lack inner depth, while others deliver monotonous lines and have dull expressions, failing to create "chemistry" with their male co-stars. In some cases, their emotions are criticized for being limited to widening their eyes, frowning, or exaggerated crying. Vietnamese cinema still lacks a new generation of actresses with the necessary skills to balance the pressure of box office success with artistic expectations.
Another reality is that many young female actors appear constantly in projects but lack distinctive qualities, quickly leading to audience "oversaturation." When actors lack sufficient maturity but are given a dense presence, their image easily becomes boring and lacks dynamism. What audiences need are vibrant, deep female characters and actors with good acting skills that make viewers believe in the emotions on screen.
