The human trafficking situation has recently continued to be complex, with increasingly sophisticated and diverse methods and tactics. According to research by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), women and girls account for 42% and 18%, respectively, of all victims of human trafficking and exploitation, mostly for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
According to a report by the Ministry of Public Security , in the first quarter of 2025, law enforcement agencies discovered and investigated 59 cases of human trafficking, including trafficking of minors under 16 years old, involving 186 individuals and 244 victims; of which, female victims accounted for 64.75%, victims under 16 years old accounted for 45%, victims over 18 years old accounted for 41%, and infant victims accounted for 24.5%.

Quang Binh province has a unique geographical location, situated in the North Central region of Vietnam, bordering Laos with a border stretching over 200km and featuring numerous international border gates and crossing points. This provides favorable conditions for trade but also poses many risks for cross-border crimes, including human trafficking.

Delegates and speakers discussed issues related to community involvement in preventing and combating human trafficking and ensuring the rights of migrants.

The forum is the opening activity in a series of practical activities in response to World Human Trafficking Day and National Human Trafficking Day on July 30, 2025, with the theme "Human Trafficking is Organized Crime - Let's End the Exploitation!", contributing to concretizing the commitments of the Vietnamese Government in the fight against human trafficking.
