In particular, during the first heat wave on June 2, 2025, the electricity consumption capacity in the area managed by the Corporation reached 18,084 MW - an increase of 4.53% compared to the peak in 2024 (17,300 MW, recorded on August 10, 2024) and also the highest consumption capacity since the beginning of 2025. Although the power system had to operate under high load conditions, EVNNPC still ensured safe power supply, without major incidents, affirming the capacity of dispatching, flexible operation as well as the initiative of the Corporation in responding to peak heat situations.
Commercial electricity output in May reached 9.104 billion kWh, up 5.38% over the same period in 2024. The cumulative output in the first 5 months of the year reached 40.42 billion kWh, up 5.28% over the same period and fulfilling 37.12% of the annual plan assigned by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN). Indicators of power supply reliability, customer service quality, and grid operation and management continued to improve, contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of the investment environment and the quality of life of people in the North.

In May 2025, EVNNPC seriously implemented Decision No. 1279/QD-BCT dated May 9, 2025 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on adjusting electricity prices. The Corporation has organized the finalization of meter readings for all 1,390,307 non-residential customers on the price change day, including 55,622 meters belonging to customers using specialized transformer stations, ensuring compliance with regulations, publicity and transparency. At the same time, it directed the Power Companies and Customer Care Centers to closely monitor and proactively answer questions to ensure the rights and create consensus among customers.
In addition, EVNNPC continued to promote investment in construction and completed many key projects. During the month, the Corporation started 2 110kV power grid projects, increasing the number of projects started in 5 months to 13; energized 10 projects, increasing the total number of energized projects to 48 - reaching 42.5% of the annual plan and increasing by 84.6% compared to the same period in 2024. The Corporation also focused on renovating medium and low voltage power grids and implementing capacitor bank projects to improve the supply capacity and operational reliability of the power system.
In the technical field, EVNNPC has completed periodic testing combined with condition-based maintenance (CBM) at 99/149 110kV transformer stations and more than 17,000 medium-voltage equipment, promptly detecting and handling many defects affecting equipment safety. Construction and cleaning of energized insulation continued to be enhanced with more than 5,300 construction sessions and 9,500 cleaning sessions in the month - up 18.96% and 15.84% respectively over the same period.
Responding to Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Hygiene in 2025 with the theme "Creative Workers - Firmly Stepping into the New Era", EVNNPC has organized many practical activities such as safety training, launching an initiative movement, praising exemplary workers, direct dialogue between leaders and workers, visiting workers in difficult circumstances...; contributing to affirming social responsibility, building a safe, humane and creative working environment throughout the Corporation.
Promote investment, streamline organization and ensure safe operation of power system
It is forecasted that in the coming month, the North will continue to record prolonged heat waves; EVNNPC will step up propaganda on safe, economical and efficient use of electricity - especially during peak hours at noon (13:00-15:00) and in the evening (20:00-23:00).
EVNNPC recommends that customers use air conditioners reasonably (at 27°C or higher), limit the simultaneous operation of many high-capacity electrical devices, and prioritize the development of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power sources to reduce pressure on the system and save costs. The Corporation also strengthens warnings against forms of impersonation of the Electricity industry on social networks to scam, in order to protect customers' rights.
Clean electrical equipment to ensure safe power supply
Entering the rainy season, EVNNPC has increased inspections of the power grid, especially at vulnerable points such as lightning discharge locations, high-load lines, and old equipment at 110kV transformer stations. Proactively reviewing and promptly fixing potential risks helps limit incidents, ensuring safety and stable operation of the system.
Regarding construction investment, EVNNPC focuses on accelerating the construction progress of power projects, especially urgent projects to prevent overload during the hot season. The Corporation also actively coordinates with EVN and related units in construction and site clearance, ensuring the progress of the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen line - an important project contributing to releasing the capacity of power sources in the Northwest region and improving the operational reliability of the national power transmission system.
In parallel with production and business tasks, EVNNPC continues to promote the work of streamlining and streamlining the organizational structure. The Corporation is proactively completing the organizational plan, adjusting the personnel structure, and fully preparing legal procedures related to the merger and restructuring of affiliated Power Companies. At the same time, urgently building and promulgating a system of management regulations suitable for the new model after restructuring, creating a foundation to improve management and operational efficiency in the next phase. The goal is to ensure that production and business activities are maintained continuously, stably, and without interruption during the reorganization process, towards a more streamlined, efficient and modern model.
