Being present with the workers of the Electricity Company in the campaign to protect the power grid corridor and distribute leaflets to the people about the work of protecting the safety of the power grid corridor in Co Phuc town, we saw the urgency of the unit in proactively responding to the unusual weather developments. Each group of electricity workers with a sense of responsibility, seriously carried out the work of checking and clearing the areas covered by trees that made the power grid corridor unsafe.
>> Yen Bai focuses on high voltage grid safety
Mr. Tran Dinh Trong - Captain of the Co Phuc General Management Team said: "The team regularly coordinates with the authorities of villages, residential groups and people to conduct specific and detailed inspections and statistics of each tree location near power lines that are at risk of causing incidents to monitor, plan and handle; at the same time, put up warning signs so that people know and proactively contact the electricity industry when exploiting trees, ensuring safety of people and property, preventing power grid incidents".
The DLTY is managing and operating the power grid of 21 communes and towns, maintaining power supply for about 30,000 customers. The power grid in the area mostly passes through mountainous areas, complex terrain, and is divided, and traffic in many villages and hamlets is still difficult. Therefore, when there is heavy rain or whirlwind, there are hundreds of points at risk of electrical incidents such as flooding, landslides leading to collapse, cracking of column foundations, tie foundations, broken power lines, etc.
According to statistics from the Electricity Distribution Center, up to now, the whole district has more than 200 locations of trees near the high-voltage power grid corridor, 2 locations with kite flying activities, 7 locations with fishing activities near the high-voltage power lines. All locations have signs, warning signs, and notices of electrical safety risks. Although they are regularly handled, there are always new potential points arising. In addition to the activities of clearing the power grid corridor, the Electricity Distribution Center also actively applies digital technology in the management and monitoring of the power grid corridor such as using flycams and thermal drones to check and detect early existing points on the grid to have timely handling measures, minimizing the occurrence of electrical incidents.
Mr. Dinh Dang Sang - Director of DLTY said: "Before the rainy season, the unit's Board of Directors requested the operation management teams to conduct a general inspection and review of the power grid, and at the same time develop a plan to immediately handle any potential safety risks on the power grid before the rainy season, ensuring stable operation of the power grid. At the same time, the electricity company has coordinated with the District's Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue to strictly implement the 24/24-hour on-call regime; the shock team is ready with 4 on-site teams (human resources, materials, vehicles, smooth communication, etc.) to deploy response when incidents occur due to natural disasters, ensuring that there is a plan to handle and overcome incidents quickly and effectively in all situations, reducing the shortest power interruption time".
At the same time, to overcome violations of the safety corridor of the power grid, especially the high-voltage power grid, while ensuring prevention, containment and minimization of power grid incidents, protecting human lives... DLTY has coordinated with local authorities to actively propagate and raise people's awareness of the harmful effects and risks of causing electrical incidents, and posted warning signs so that people can be vigilant when operating near the power grid.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Huyen in residential group No. 4, Co Phuc town said: "After being informed by the electricity sector officials about ensuring the safety of the power grid as well as how to use electricity safely, we have clearly understood and actively participated in protecting the security and safety of the power grid. With tall trees outside the corridor that are likely to fall onto the power line, we completely agree to let the relevant sector cut them down for the common safety."
In the coming time, the Electricity Authority will continue to direct departments and offices to enhance their roles and responsibilities in disseminating to people about safe use of electricity and protection of high-voltage power grid safety corridors; closely coordinate with local authorities to protect high-voltage power grid corridors and electrical safety in villages and residential groups, ensuring safe and stable power supply for customers during the rainy and stormy season, contributing to the successful completion of the tasks of Yen Bai Electricity Company in 2025.
