(Dan Tri Newspaper) - After nearly two years of construction, the North-South Expressway project in the East, passing through Ha Tinh province, with a total length of over 107km, is gradually taking shape. According to the plan, this expressway is expected to be put into operation on April 30, 2025.
The North-South Expressway project in the East, passing through Ha Tinh province, has a total length of over 107km with 4 component projects, including: Dien Chau - Bai Vot (2017-2020 phase) and Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang, Vung Ang - Bung (2021-2025 phase). Pictured is the Hung Duc bridge (part of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway), spanning the Lam River and connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.
Specifically, the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway, over 49km long, passing through the territories of two provinces, Nghe An (44.4km) and Ha Tinh (4.9km), with a total investment of 11,157 billion VND, has been put into operation along its entire length since June 30th. The North-South Expressway connecting to Thanh Binh Thinh commune (Duc Tho district) helps shorten travel time from Hanoi to Nghe An and Ha Tinh to just over 3.5 hours. The remaining three component projects include: Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang, and Vung Ang - Bung, totaling over 102km, passing through the districts of Duc Tho, Can Loc, Thach Ha, Cam Xuyen, Ky Anh, and Ky Anh town. Construction began in January 2023 and is expected to be completed before June 30, 2025. The image shows the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway section, 35.28km long with a total investment of over 7,600 billion VND. Its starting point is at the intersection with National Highway 8 (in Thanh Binh Thinh commune, Duc Tho district), connecting to the Dien Chau - Bai Vot section, and its end point is in Thach Xuan commune (Thach Ha district), connecting to the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang component project.
The design scale for the expressway through Ha Tinh in the initial investment phase is 4 lanes, with a road surface width of 17m, while the completed phase will have 6 lanes and a roadbed width of 32.25m. The interchange section passing through Luu Vinh Son commune (Thach Ha district), part of the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi component project, is gradually taking shape. Once operational, drivers will be able to exit the expressway from this interchange to reach Ha Tinh city, Huong Khe district, Thach Ha district, and vice versa, entering the interchange to access the expressway. The Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway section is over 54km long with a total investment of over 9,700 billion VND. It starts in Thach Xuan commune (Thach Ha district), connecting with the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi component project, and ends at the intersection with National Highway 12C in Ky Tan commune (Ky Anh district), connecting with the Vung Ang - Bung component project.
The Vung Ang - Bung expressway component project, spanning over 55km and passing through the territories of two provinces, Ha Tinh (12.9km) and Quang Binh (42.44km), has a total investment of over 12,500 billion VND and is managed by Project Management Board 6 ( Ministry of Transport ). On the Vung Ang - Bung section, the Deo But road tunnel is one of the highlights of the expressway through Ha Tinh. The Deo But tunnel is nearly 1km long and has a total investment of over 1,100 billion VND. This is the only road tunnel in the more than 107km length of the North-South Expressway in the East through Ha Tinh.
Department of Roads: Sets deadline for rest stop projects on North-South Expressway.(PLVN) - Faced with the situation of many rest stop projects on the Eastern North-South Expressway being behind schedule, the Department of Roads (Ministry of Construction) has issued a document requesting Project Management Boards, Road Management Zones, and investors to take decisive measures to accelerate construction progress.
The expressway through Ha Tinh province is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 and put into operation from 2026. However, prior to achieving the set schedule, the Government, the Prime Minister , and the Ministry of Transport have requested the investor to urge contractors to accelerate construction and put the project into operation by April 30, 2025. To bring the project to completion ahead of schedule, contractors have mobilized manpower, machinery, and equipment, dividing them into hundreds of construction teams working in 3 shifts and 4 teams day and night. Thanks to the efforts of contractors over the past nearly two years, the appearance of more than 107km of the North-South expressway through Ha Tinh has taken shape.
