Director Luong Dinh Dung plans to bring the film Cha cong con back to theaters next July. In addition to wanting the audience to fully experience the emotions of the film, he also hopes that child actor Gia Bao will find his parents.
According to director Luong Dinh Dung, at the time of filming, Gia Bao was only 6-7 years old, the youngest member of the crew. Appearing for only over 10 minutes, little Hen, played by Gia Bao, impressed the audience with his natural acting, moving them.
"Hen is the only girl in the child cast, so everyone who watches remembers her. During filming, I spent a lot of time talking to Gia Bao to help her get into character. When she got into character, she acted quite well, her smile and speech were also very natural," director Luong Dinh Dung shared with Dan Tri reporter.

Not only did Gia Bao bring tears to the audience when she played the role, in real life, she also made many people sympathize with her pitiful situation. She was abandoned by her relatives at a clinic since birth, then she was taken to a center. Not long after the center went bankrupt, she was taken by a nurse at the clinic to the SOS Children's Village in Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province.
"I met Bao by chance, around 2009 - 2010, I was looking for a setting to edit the script for the movie Father Carrying Son . I had the opportunity to go with friends to the foster care center to give gifts, at that time Gia Bao was about 3 years old.
I remember my grandchild had dermatitis and lots of acne. He stood looking at me and asked to be held. I held him and was very impressed with his mouth and sad expression.
Until I was looking for an actor, I met him by chance and recognized him by his name and mouth. Bao was also quite shy, he spoke little and could not concentrate. But I thought this was an opportunity for me to do something for him and so I decided to choose Gia Bao for the only female child role in the film," the director said about his chance with Gia Bao.
Many years have passed, the shy girl from back then is now an 11th grader. Gia Bao confided that she hopes that when the movie is shown again, her parents and relatives can recognize her and find her.
"I really want to be able to ask my mother when I have a problem as a girl, and ask my father when I'm bullied, but I can't... If I could see my parents again, I would just want to ask why I was abandoned," Gia Bao said. But more than that, he longs to see his parents, to touch them just once.
Gia Bao currently wishes to study acting at the University of Theatre and Cinema. Director Luong Dinh Dung said that he and his team will work together to search and hope that the community will spread the word to help Gia Bao find his biological parents as well as pursue his dream of cinema.

Father and Son was released in 2017, based on the story of the same name by director Luong Dinh Dung, focusing on depicting the simple and beautiful father-son relationship between father and son Moc and Ca.
Fish lost his mother at a young age, and he dreamed of touching the clouds in the sky. His father, though he spent his whole life fishing on the riverbank, still quietly nurtured in his son imaginary stories about a land filled with light that he himself had never set foot on...
In addition to Moc and Ca, the film also makes viewers cry because of the fate of supporting characters such as little Hen, the blind boy, the poor old man taking care of his grandchild in the hospital...
The film Father and Son participated in a number of international film festivals and was selected as the Vietnamese film to participate in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 90th Oscars.
