On June 3rd, China Daily reported that Wei Zongwan, the actor who played Sima Yi in the 1994 adaptation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms , had passed away. He died after a long battle with illness at the age of 89. The news was confirmed by the actor's family. The funeral service is scheduled to take place on the afternoon of June 5th at the Longhua Funeral Home in Shanghai.
Wei Zongwan began his film career in 1983 with the film "One and Eight ". In 1989, he was awarded the title of First-Class Actor. In 1993, his role in "San Mao Joins the Army" earned him the Best Supporting Actor award at the Golden Rooster Awards.

Throughout his decades-long career, Wei Zongwan left his mark with a series of classic roles on the Chinese screen. Most notably, he portrayed Sima Yi in Romance of the Three Kingdoms .
