On the evening of May 19, a source from Tuoi Tre Online reported that the leaders of the Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security, issued a decision to temporarily suspend Mr. HD - a border police officer at Phu Quoc International Airport (Phu Quoc Airport) - for tearing up a Taiwanese passenger's boarding pass on May 13.
The unit will then consider responsibility and handle the individuals involved in the above incident according to police regulations.
Previously, after a 6-day, 5-night trip to Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang), a family of 4 Taiwanese tourists went to Phu Quoc International Airport to return home on May 13.
However, when arriving at the boarding gate, an employee believed to be from the immigration department acted impolitely and demanded that the passengers complete separate procedures for each person (including two small children).
After having to wait in line for a long time, this Taiwanese tourist family complained and had their boarding pass torn up by Mr. HD - an immigration officer at the airport.
Although resolved and reprinted for tourists, the actions of the staff at Phu Quoc airport did not leave a good impression in the eyes of tourists.
After the incident, Mr. D. - an immigration officer at Phu Quoc airport - later sent a letter of apology to the Taiwanese tourist's family.
