"Steel Flower" Thuy Dung

Looking at the beautiful and charming features of Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, working at Company 1, Battalion 9, Brigade 113 (Special Forces), few people would think that she is a female infantry special forces fighter. Only when watching Thuy Dung perform and compete, people are overwhelmed by the "multi-color" of this "steel flower".

Thuy Dung confided that as a woman, working in the military environment, often away from her family, having long competitions and performances, in a high-intensity and demanding environment, she always has to maintain a scientific style, self-discipline, and a spirit of learning. Thuy Dung believes that a special forces soldier who wants to be strong must forge from courage and courage can only be obtained from discipline and from efforts to overcome oneself. Therefore, she is always proactive in learning, grasping the unit's tasks to complete the set goals and requirements well, whether in difficult training conditions or when performing and competing.

A highlight in Thuy Dung's journey to achieve great success was in 2021, when she was selected to participate in the Army Games in Uzbekistan in the "Medical Support" category. This was the first time Dung competed in an international environment, under harsh climate and high pressure. But with the will of a soldier and pride in the "color of the flag", Dung and her teammates competed bravely, winning 4th place overall. That achievement was the motivation for Dung to continue to make constant efforts, continuously achieving many achievements in competitions and performances, and receiving many certificates of merit from the Ministry of National Defense , the General Department of Politics and the Special Forces.

In addition to her professional activities, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung is also a prominent face in the union work and women's movement. She actively participates in exchange activities, sports competitions, folk dances, martial arts; many times performing special forces techniques and tactics to serve international delegations, major events of the Ministry of National Defense and the Army Corps. In any task, Dung always shows meticulousness, determination and a high sense of responsibility.

Not only good at performing and competing, Dung is also active in research and innovation. She is one of the authors of the device "Multi-function Power Charger" which won second prize in the 2024 Creative Youth Award of the Special Forces Corps; at the same time, she participated in many activities to learn about traditions, winning awards at the Ministry of National Defense and the Central Youth Union levels. It is this comprehensiveness that makes her always trusted by the Party Committee and commanders to assign important tasks, from reporting on training to the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, international delegations, to participating in exchanges with young officers in Cambodia.

Despite being honored as “Outstanding Young Face of the Special Forces” in 2024 and “Promising Young Face of the Army in 2024”, along with many other noble titles, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung still maintains the familiar humility of a martial artist. She believes that the greatest reward is her own maturity and the trust and recognition of her superiors and teammates.
