"The Steel Flower" Thuy Dung

Looking at the fresh and charming face of Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, a non-commissioned officer working at Company 1, Battalion 9, Brigade 113 (Special Forces), few would guess she is a female special forces combatant. Only when watching Thuy Dung perform and compete do people realize the "multifaceted" nature of this "steel flower."

Thùy Dung shared that, as a woman working in the military, she is often away from her family, with long training trips for competitions and performances. The high-intensity environment and demanding requirements require her to maintain a scientific approach, self-discipline, and a proactive spirit. Thùy Dung believes that a special forces soldier must cultivate strong character, and character can only be acquired through discipline and the effort to overcome oneself. Therefore, she always proactively learns and thoroughly understands the unit's tasks to successfully achieve the set goals and requirements, whether in arduous training conditions or during performances and competitions.

A highlight in Thùy Dung's journey to achieving top honors was in 2021, when she was selected to participate in the Army Games in Uzbekistan in the "Medical Relay" event. It was Dung's first time competing in an international environment, under harsh weather conditions and high pressure. But with the will of a soldier and pride in her country's colors, Dung and her teammates competed bravely, securing 4th place overall. This achievement motivated Dung to continue striving, consistently achieving many successes in competitions and performances, and receiving numerous commendations from the Ministry of National Defense , the General Political Department, and the Special Forces.

In addition to her professional duties, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung is also a prominent figure in youth union activities and women's movements. She actively participates in sports exchanges and competitions, folk dances, and martial arts; and has repeatedly demonstrated special forces tactics and techniques for international delegations and major events of the Ministry of National Defense and the Special Forces. In any task, Dung demonstrates meticulousness, determination, and a high sense of responsibility.

Besides being skilled in performance and competition, Dung is also actively involved in research and innovation. She is one of the creators of the "Multifunctional Power Charger" device, which won second prize at the 2024 Youth Innovation Award of the Special Forces Command; she also participates in many activities to learn about traditions, winning awards at the Ministry of National Defense and Central Youth Union levels. This all-around excellence has earned her the trust of her superiors and leaders, who entrust her with important tasks, from presenting training reports to Ministry of National Defense leaders and international delegations to participating in young officer exchanges in Cambodia.

Despite being honored as "Outstanding Young Face of the Special Forces" in 2024 and "Promising Young Face of the Entire Army in 2024," along with many other prestigious titles, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung still maintains the familiar humility of a martial arts practitioner. She believes that the greatest reward is her own personal growth and the trust and recognition of her superiors and comrades.
