Attending the conference were comrades: Ho Van Nien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council; Sai-thoong Xay-nha-vong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation in constituency No. 15, Chairman of the Champasak Provincial People's Council, and comrades in the Standing Committee of the People's Council, leaders of the People's Council Committees of Gia Lai and Champasak provinces.
Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council Ho Van Nien affirmed that Vietnam and Laos have a traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation. Over the past time, that relationship has been continuously consolidated, enhanced and strongly developed, demonstrated through high-level visits by leaders of the Party and State of the two nations.
For Gia Lai province, foreign affairs with the southern Lao provinces, including Champasak province, have been actively implemented in all three aspects: Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and People's foreign affairs.
The cooperation between the two provinces in various fields in recent times has also achieved many remarkable results. Regarding human resource training and development, from 2016 to present, Gia Lai has been supporting the training of 36 international students from Champasak province; in the first quarter of 2025 alone, the province received and trained 5 international students from Champasak province within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the period 2021-2025.
Regarding investment cooperation, Gia Lai has 16 investment projects in Laos, including Hung Thang Loi Gia Lai Company Limited, which is implementing a sustainable fruit tree planting project in Champasak province with a total registered capital of about 12.5 million USD. Regarding transportation, Gia Lai province currently has 31 units licensed to conduct international road transport between Vietnam and Laos, including 2 units transporting passengers on fixed routes through Champasak.
“The organization of the exchange of experiences on the work of the People's Councils between the two provinces this time is a continuation of the above-mentioned activities, contributing to enhancing the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the new situation, which has been approved by the leaders of the Party and State of the two countries during recent high-level visits” - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Gia Lai province Ho Van Nien emphasized and believed that in the coming time, the two provinces will continue to preserve and promote good traditions, continue to cooperate more comprehensively and deeply.
In his response, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Champasak Provincial People's Council Sai-thoong Xay-nha-vong thanked the leaders of Gia Lai province for their warm welcome during the delegation's visit and work.
Comrade Sai-thoong Xay-nha-vong said: Champasak Provincial People's Council is a newly established organization, operating for 2 terms and the second term is about to end. Therefore, the delegation is very interested and wishes to exchange experiences on issues related to the supervision work of Gia Lai Provincial People's Council agencies to operate more effectively in the coming time.
At the meeting, delegates from the two provinces exchanged and shared experiences and good practices in implementing the activities of the People's Councils in their localities; proposed practical measures to continue to consolidate and further strengthen the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the two countries in general and the People's Councils of the two provinces in particular, contributing to deepening the exchange activities of the People's Councils and making them regular activities in the coming time.
