The Thanh Hoa Provincial Bar Association recently held its 9th Congress (2024-2029), electing a new Executive Board of 5 members. Lawyer Nguyen Huu Giang was elected as the Chairman of the Provincial Bar Association for the 9th term.

On December 14th and 15th, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Bar Association held its 9th General Assembly for the 2024-2029 term.
Attending the Congress were Lawyer and Doctor Do Ngoc Thinh, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Vietnam Bar Association ; and representatives from the Bar Associations of several provinces and cities nationwide.
Representing Thanh Hoa province were members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Nguyen Van Thi, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Ngoc Tien, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Department; and representatives from several provincial departments and agencies.

Over the years, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Bar Association has experienced rapid growth in both quantity and quality. The Association currently comprises 120 lawyers and 15 trainee lawyers working in 35 legal practice organizations (18 law firms, 17 law offices), and 9 lawyers practicing independently.

The Provincial Bar Association and its lawyers have made significant contributions to judicial activities, providing advice to businesses and citizens; fulfilling the political tasks of the Party and the State, thereby building trust in lawyers and the legal profession from the Party, the State, and the community.
During the 2019-2024 term, lawyers of the Provincial Bar Association participated in 2,053 criminal cases to defend defendants and protect the legitimate rights of victims (including 1,611 cases requested by the prosecuting authorities); participated in protecting the rights of litigants in 379 civil and administrative cases; provided legal advice in business and commerce to litigants in 109 cases; represented clients outside of litigation in 27 cases; and provided legal advice in over 7,200 other cases (including free legal advice and assistance)... Revenue from the lawyers' professional activities over the past five years reached over 19 billion VND; contributing over 1.4 billion VND to the State budget.
Lawyers also actively participate in lawmaking, legal education and dissemination, and other social activities.
The Congress seriously assessed the successes, shortcomings, and limitations of the 8th term, and on that basis set forth the main directions and tasks for the 9th term (2024 - 2029).

Speaking at the Congress, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi and President of the Vietnam Bar Association Do Ngoc Thinh congratulated the Thanh Hoa Provincial Bar Association on the achievements made in the past term; and expressed confidence that in the new term, with a sense of responsibility and dedication, the Provincial Bar Association and each member lawyer will continue to build upon the achievements, strive to overcome difficulties and shortcomings, and work towards building a strong and comprehensively developed Provincial Bar Association, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province and the increasingly strong development of the Vietnam Bar Association.
The comrades suggested that the Provincial Bar Association should coordinate with relevant provincial agencies, Party committees at all levels, and local authorities to continue implementing Conclusion No. 69-KL/TW dated February 24, 2020, of the Central Party Secretariat on continuing to implement Directive No. 33-CT/TW of the Central Party Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over the organization and activities of lawyers; Directive No. 14-CT/TW dated July 1, 2022, of the Politburo; and other Directives and Plans of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the Provincial People's Committee; and coordinate with state management agencies on lawyers to consolidate the socio-professional organization of lawyers, focusing on areas where bar associations have not yet been established or where there are too few lawyers. To guide and support the development of a legal profession that is sufficient in number, politically steadfast, ethically upright, and highly skilled in its field, meeting the practical needs of the locality, enhancing the effectiveness of lawyers' litigation in court and in judicial and legal activities, and serving international economic integration.

The Congress elected the Executive Board of the Provincial Bar Association for the 9th term, 2024-2029, consisting of 5 members; and elected Lawyer Nguyen Huu Giang as the Chairman of the Provincial Bar Association for the 9th term.
The Congress unanimously elected the Provincial Bar Association's Awards and Disciplinary Council for the 9th term, consisting of 5 members; and elected a delegation to attend the 4th National Congress of Lawyers.
Nguyen Ngoc Tien, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Department, presented the Certificate of Commendation from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to the Provincial Bar Association.

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals were honored with certificates of merit and commendations from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Vietnam Bar Association, the Department of Justice, and the Provincial Bar Association.
