During the match between Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa in the third round of the V-League, in the 54th minute, Doan Ngoc Tan collided heavily with Nguyen Hoang Trung Nguyen and Joseph Onoja of the home team. The Thanh Hoa midfielder collapsed to the ground in pain and subsequently left the field.
Doan Ngoc Tan was immediately taken to the hospital for injury assessment. Doctors announced that the Thanh Hoa FC player had broken three ribs, had pleural effusion, and required surgery, with an expected long period of absence from playing.

Losing Ngoc Tan is a major blow for Thanh Hoa, especially since the team cannot field foreign player Ribamar due to a muscle tear, while Mamadou Mbodj is not in good form.
Doan Ngoc Tan's injury also caused him to miss the Vietnamese national team's training camp. Previously, in the squad list, coach Kim Sang Sik recalled the midfielder from Thanh Hoa after a long absence due to injury. Currently, it is unclear whether the South Korean coach will call up a replacement for the player born in 1994.
This is the second consecutive time Doan Ngoc Tan has suffered a serious injury. Previously, he fractured his fibula while training with Thanh Hoa Club, forcing him to miss the rest of the 2024/25 season.
Regarding the Vietnamese national team's training camp, due to coach Kim Sang Sik's busy schedule leading the U23 Vietnam team in the 2026 U23 Asian Cup qualifiers at the same time, Acting Head Coach Dinh Hong Vinh will be in charge of the national team. Quang Hai and his teammates will have two training matches against CAHN Club (September 4th) and Thép Xanh Nam Định Club (September 7th).
