Businesses assist farmers in harvesting sugarcane.

Farmers and sugarcane businesses in the eastern part of the province are working together to overcome difficulties in harvesting and replanting sugarcane.

In the communes of Duc Binh, Song Hinh, Son Hoa, Dong Xuan, Phu Hoa 1, etc., sugarcane harvesting is usually completed by the end of April each year. However, this year, due to various reasons, the sugarcane has not yet been fully harvested. To resolve the remaining sugarcane in the fields and ensure production in the new crop season, farmers are coordinating with the factory to complete the harvest of this crop.

Mr. Vo Van Ut's family in Tan An village (Son Hoa commune) owns approximately 29 hectares of sugarcane in Suoi Trai and Suoi Bac villages. They have already harvested over 19 hectares and are focusing on harvesting the remaining area. Mr. Ut said: “My sugarcane fields are under a partnership with KCP Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd. (KCP), which invests in and guarantees the purchase of the product. Compared to previous years, the harvesting progress is slower because priority has to be given to sugarcane areas that were flooded during the recent natural disaster. The slow sugarcane harvest affects production in the next season, but given the overall situation, we have to share the burden and support the company.” According to Mr. Ut, the purchasing company has committed to buying 100% of the sugarcane and will also support transportation costs if it rains…

Similarly, Mr. Huynh Khac Vu's family (Nhat Son village, Phu Hoa 1 commune) has over 90 hectares of sugarcane; of which over 60 hectares are under contract with KCP, and about 30 hectares are under contract with other companies. To date, they have harvested about 65%. According to Mr. Vu, although the sugarcane harvest progress this year is slower, the yield is higher than last year. "In my family's sugarcane growing area, last year's sugarcane had a sugar content of 10 CCS, while this year it is 11-12 CCS; the yield in some fields is the same as last year, but in others it is higher, depending on the region," Mr. Vu said enthusiastically.

In communes with large sugarcane growing areas such as Son Hoa, Song Hinh, and Dong Xuan, KCP is also focusing on supporting farmers in harvesting and replanting sugarcane. Mr. KVSR Subbaiah, General Director of KCP, informed: The impact of natural disasters at the end of 2025 caused many difficulties for both farmers and the factory, affecting the sugarcane harvest. This year's sugarcane harvest, the company had to prioritize early harvesting of sugarcane damaged by flooding, approximately 2,500 hectares (150,000 tons). Furthermore, the heat wave caused 761 hectares of sugarcane under contract with KCP to burn, so the company had to prioritize harvesting and still purchase the burned sugarcane to minimize losses for the factory and farmers.

According to Mr. KVSR Subbaiah, the Son Hoa and Dong Xuan sugar mills (belonging to KCP) are currently operating at full capacity to ensure production during the peak sugarcane harvesting season. The company also requested that local authorities explain these situations to farmers so they understand and cooperate in implementing the company's harvesting and crushing plan. "Facing many difficulties in consumption and transportation, KCP remains committed to consuming all the invested sugarcane production, creating favorable conditions for farmers to harvest and deliver sugarcane to the factory, and will conclude the crushing season when the sugarcane management boards of the communes announce it," Mr. KVSR Subbaiah affirmed.
