Speaking at the recent "Partnership to Promote Digital Transformation of Vietnamese Businesses 2023" conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Deputy Director of the Department of Enterprise Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment, said that in the period from 2021 to 2023, the department coordinated with ministries, agencies, associations, and industry organizations to implement the Program to support businesses in digital transformation for the period 2021-2025.

Currently, businesses are showing significant shifts in their understanding of the necessity of digital transformation. Many businesses have entered the phase of digitizing data, standardizing processes, applying digital technologies , and moving towards a broader and more synchronized digital transformation.

This is a remarkable achievement resulting from the efforts and aspirations of businesses to change and thrive, the effective support of the entire political system from central to local levels, and the support of associations and industry organizations in promoting digital transformation for businesses.

However, these achievements are still quite modest. Businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, are still facing many difficulties and limitations in the digital transformation process. The Department of Enterprise Development hopes to hear insights from partner agencies, which are also units that support businesses, in order to develop specific strategies and more in-depth support plans for businesses in the upcoming 2024-2025 period ,” Mr. Trung said.

Dennis Quennet, Director of Sustainable Economic Development Projects at the German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ) in Vietnam, affirmed that dual transformation is an inevitable international trend aimed at combining green transformation and digital transformation towards sustainable development.

GIZ is actively and strongly supporting Vietnam in its green transformation and digital transformation process. At the same time, it hopes to continue working alongside the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the private sector in this digital transformation journey.

Dennis Quennet has high expectations for Vietnam's digital transformation efforts.

Through collaborative efforts involving stakeholders, both public and private, I am confident that the important goal of digital transformation will gradually be realized in Vietnam ,” Dennis Quennet expected.

Representatives from the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) also shared VNPT's digital transformation experience with small and medium-sized enterprises. VNPT stated that digital transformation is a journey fraught with difficulties, requiring the unity and cooperation of the entire enterprise.

In the first stage, businesses need to convert data into digital form (digitization), then apply digital technology to their product manufacturing processes. From there, businesses can use digital data to create new business models and value.

Ms. Dang Thuy Trang, Director of External Relations at Grab Vietnam, shared her experience, stating that by using simple online tools, small and medium-sized businesses can open online stores on the platform. This allows them to quickly and widely reach new user groups at optimal costs, thereby generating additional revenue.

Digital transformation is increasingly impacting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) worldwide and is becoming an inevitable trend. To become a digital enterprise, and to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Vietnamese businesses, especially SMEs, need to constantly change and innovate.
