Tourism revenue in the Southeast region reached over 215 trillion VND

NDO - In 2024, localities in the Southeast region will welcome more than 74 million visitors, an increase of 12.6% and total tourism revenue will reach more than 215 trillion VND, an increase of 18.8% compared to 2023.

On the afternoon of December 26, in Bien Hoa city, the People's Committees of provinces and cities in the Southeast region held a conference to review the implementation of the cooperation agreement on tourism development in 2024.

In 2024, localities in the Southeast region ( Ho Chi Minh City, provinces: Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tay Ninh and Binh Phuoc) welcomed nearly 74 million visitors, an increase of 12.6% over the same period in 2023. Of which, more than 67 million were domestic visitors and more than 6.7 million were international visitors.

The region's total tourism revenue in 2024 will reach more than VND215 trillion, an increase of 18.8% over the same period in 2023.

According to the assessment, besides the achieved results, the implementation of the tourism cooperation agreement in the Southeast region in 2024 still has limitations that need to be focused on solving in the coming time.

These are some key tourism projects of localities that are behind schedule due to problems with compensation, site clearance, land policies, and incomplete specialized laws, thus affecting the tourism development of the region.

Provinces and cities in the Southeast region do not have a strong enough incentive price policy or promotion to attract travel companies to offer attractive package tour prices.

Although tourism products have been improved, they are not outstanding, lacking modern, international-scale entertainment, resort, shopping and culinary complexes.

The linkage in building tours and tourism routes between localities is still limited; it has not really gone into depth, and the common tourism products of the region have not been clearly formed.

At the conference, leaders of provinces and cities in the Southeast region agreed to implement more effective linkage activities within the region and expand to other regions by 2025, in order to more effectively exploit specific products in each locality, diversify tourism types, increase regional competitiveness... thereby creating conditions for tourism businesses to expand their markets and attract tourists.

Focus on removing difficulties and obstacles of development projects to promptly deploy investment and create products to contribute to promoting tourism development in each locality and contributing to tourism development in the Southeast region.

In the conference program, implementing the policy of promoting the application of 4.0 technology in promoting tourism, introducing destinations of Dong Nai province and the Southeast region, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Nai province coordinated with Thang Long Digital Joint Stock Company to build a smart interactive map, digitizing 360 tourist destinations.

The virtual reality tourism experience space has brought impressive experiences and received a lot of positive feedback from the attending delegates.

This is considered a new solution to convey the beauty of the cultural and artistic life of Vietnamese people in general and inspire tourists through intuitive and authentic experiences, contributing to promoting and improving tourism promotion in Dong Nai in particular and the Southeast region in general.

On the same morning, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province held a conference to promote tourism to the provinces and cities of the Southeast region.

Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung said that the locality always accompanies, supports, and creates the most favorable conditions for investors in tourism and tourism real estate business to develop, best exploit internal resources and maximize external resources for investment and development.

Dong Nai provincial leaders hope that investors will come to Dong Nai to invest, experience, visit resorts, agriculture, enjoy fresh air with the ecosystem of forests, rivers, streams, lakes and rich heritage values.
