On the morning of May 19th, the Brazilian national team finalized its 26-player squad for the 2026 World Cup, which included Neymar. After a long absence, the striker born in 1992 returns to wear the yellow and green jersey to appear at the biggest football event on the planet.
The last time Neymar played for the Brazilian national team was against Uruguay in October 2023 during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. In the most recent squad selection, coach Carlo Ancelotti did not call up Neymar.

However, he remains part of the 2026 World Cup plans. The 1992-born star was included in the preliminary list of 55 players that the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) submitted to the International Football Federation (FIFA) before the May 11 deadline. Ultimately, coach Ancelotti decided to bring Neymar back.
Neymar (34 years old) is also one of the oldest players in the Brazilian squad, alongside Weverton (38), Alex Sandro (35), Danilo (34), and Casemiro (34). The Brazilian squad only has 4 players under 25 years old, the youngest of whom are Endrick and Rayan (19 years old).
Even though the squad list has been finalized, the Brazilian team still has the right to replace players in case of injury. Coach Ancelotti is allowed to choose from nine reserve players before the team plays its first match.
At the 2026 World Cup, Brazil is in Group C along with Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland. All three matches for coach Carlo Ancelotti's team will take place in the United States.
