Vietnamese intellectuals and the country enter a new era of the Nation

That was the statement of Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of VUSTA at the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Contributions of Vietnamese scientists in the cause of national construction and defense".

On August 16, at the Heritage Park of Vietnamese Scientists (Thung Nai commune, Phu Tho province), the Heritage Museum of Vietnamese Scientists (MEDDOM) in collaboration with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) held the Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition "Contributions of Vietnamese Scientists in the Cause of National Construction and Defense".

Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Pham Tat Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; comrade Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; comrade Do Chi Nghia, standing member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society; comrade Bui Duc Hinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, representatives of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Ministry of Science and Technology , and many prominent scientists and interested people.

At the Exhibition Ceremony, Professor, Doctor, Hero of Labor Nguyen Anh Tri, founder of the Vietnam Scientists Heritage Museum, shared about the mission of MEDDOM. The museum was established in 2004, a unit in the ecosystem of MEDLATEC GROUP. With the mission of preserving and promoting the highest values of science, ethics, will and identity of Vietnamese scientists, the museum has become a unique destination for all ages at home and abroad.

Currently, the Museum has more than 1 million documents/artifacts (paper, blocks, films, tapes, discs...) of more than 7,000 famous scientists in various fields nationwide.

The exhibition is the result of more than a year of careful preparation, built from a treasure trove of documents, artifacts and precious memories that the Vietnam Scientists Heritage Museum has patiently collected over the past 20 years. Hundreds of field trips, with thousands of hours of interviews, collection and processing of documents were conducted by the Museum staff.

Many of the scientists whose stories the Museum interviewed and recorded are no longer with us, but their memories and legacies have become an important part of the national heritage.

Speaking at the Ceremony, Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, highly appreciated the dedication and careful preparation of MEDDOM over the past time. The Ceremony is a tribute to the contributions of Vietnamese scientists in protecting and building the country and is an important event to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

Chairman Phan Xuan Dung was moved to share, “The team of Vietnamese scientists and intellectuals in science and technology has accompanied the country and people throughout history; has made a great and very valuable and proud contribution to the cause of national liberation, national reunification; national reconstruction after reunification; innovation, promoting industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration.

Today, the Vietnamese team of scientists and intellectuals in science and technology is very honored to join the country in entering a new era of the Nation with the great aspiration of shortening the time to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers. That has placed on the shoulders of the Vietnamese team of intellectuals, scientists, and workers in science and technology many great opportunities and challenges.

Vietnam is entering an era of national development. Vietnamese intellectuals and scientists are facing many great opportunities and challenges to serve the country in the context and development trend that must rely on science, technology, innovation (ICT) and digital transformation (DCT).

Our Party and State have many major breakthrough policies and solutions, recently: Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs, development of science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation; Resolution No. 193/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly: on piloting a number of special mechanisms and policies to create breakthroughs in the development of science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation; Law on Science, Technology and Innovation and many other documents have been and are continuing to be issued.

The team of Vietnamese scientists and workers in the science and technology sector, with their intelligence, enthusiasm, patriotism and Vietnamese qualities, and especially continuing the fine traditions of their predecessors, are ready to enter an era of prosperous and strong development of the nation. Respected and trusted, the team of Vietnamese intellectuals, scientists and workers in the science and technology sector will fulfill the noble mission assigned by the Party, the State and the People.

At the opening ceremony, the delegates witnessed the signing of the heritage of scientists. In particular, the delegates heard touching stories about the scientific spirit and dedication to the Fatherland of the soldiers who participated in the battle at Quang Tri Citadel in the past, those soldiers returned with the miracle of overcoming the brutality of war and devoted all their intelligence to scientific research and dedication to building the Fatherland.

After the ceremony, the delegates visited the exhibition space. This is not only a place to introduce documents and artifacts but also a space to tell vivid historical moments, through many touching stories such as: Professor, Academician, Labor Hero Tran Dai Nghia (first President of the Vietnam Union of Associations), returned to Vietnam from France and laid the foundation for the country's defense industry; Professor Tu Giay founded the newspaper Vui Song to disseminate disease prevention knowledge among the people and the army; Professor Bui Dai went to the battlefield five times, contributing to extinguishing malaria outbreaks that ravaged the fierce battlefield; Or Professor Ta Quang Buu proposed the motto of training intellectuals "Three Good" and left a valuable legacy in the book "Song"; or the story of agricultural scientists such as Labor Hero Professor Luong Dinh Cua, Professor Bui Huy Dap, Professor, Academician Dao The Tuan, Professor, Labor Hero Academician Vu Tuyen Hoang (President of the Vietnam Union of Agricultural Sciences from 1999 to February 2008)... who helped Vietnam, from a country that experienced a terrible famine in 1945, become one of the world's leading rice exporting countries...

The exhibition space introduced more than 150 outstanding scientists and nearly 200 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main themes: Protecting the Fatherland : Recognizing the contributions of scientists in the resistance war, from researching and manufacturing weapons, ensuring healthcare, to improving techniques to serve the battlefield; and Building and developing the country : Honoring research works, inventions, and solutions applied in life and production, contributing to the development of the fields of agriculture, healthcare, education, national defense, technology, environment, etc.

Through the stories of scientists, historical witnesses, or through the evidence associated with their lives, the exhibition brings to the public profound, authentic and touching stories about scientists and the journey of Vietnamese science throughout 80 years of building, protecting and developing the country. This is truly a unique space, connecting science and culture, bringing diverse and meaningful experiences.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition “Contributions of Vietnamese scientists to the cause of national construction and defense” is an opportunity to honor the contributions of Vietnamese intellectuals to the development of the country. The coordination between the Heritage Museum and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations demonstrates the common commitment and responsibility in preserving and promoting the value of scientific heritage, while contributing to spreading authentic stories and inspiring achievements of generations of scientists to the general public.

The exhibition is expected to last for 5 years, and the artifacts and characters will be changed periodically. With valuable documents carefully preserved and touching stories of scientists in the journey of protecting and building the country over the past 80 years, the Museum of Heritage of Scientists deserves to be an interesting destination for Vietnamese people and international friends in the coming time.

MEDDOM is the only and first Center in Vietnam with the function of researching, preserving and storing tangible and intangible cultural values through personal documents and artifacts, memories of Vietnamese scientists. The opening ceremony of the exhibition "Contributions of Vietnamese scientists in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland" will be held at the Heritage Park of Vietnamese scientists (Meddom Park). Meddom Park is built with two main functions: heritage museum and heritage park. Meddom Park impresses with a large area of about 30 hectares with the highlight being the S1 building shaped like an open book. This is truly a unique space connecting science and culture, bringing diverse and meaningful experiences.
