Vietnam team welcomes new breeze from U23

The Vietnam team uses a young and combative force to prepare for two matches against Nepal during the FIFA Days in October 2025.

On September 30, head coach Kim Sang Sik announced the list of 24 players of the Vietnamese national team to gather for the FIFA Days in October 2025. This is a gathering that has received a lot of attention as the Korean coach boldly gave opportunities to young players, combined with experienced veterans.

The biggest highlight in the list is the presence of 7 faces from the U23 generation that just won the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and qualified for the 2026 Asian U23 Championship.

The names chosen include Tran Trung Kien, Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Xuan Bac, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Phi Hoang and Nguyen Nhat Minh. Being called up to the national team this time will open up opportunities for young talents to assert themselves in the big playground.

Along with the young generation, the Vietnamese team continues to maintain its core structure with familiar names such as Do Duy Manh, Bui Tien Dung, Pham Xuan Manh, Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Hai Long, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Quang Hai, Cao Pentdant Quang Vinh and Nguyen Tien Linh.

The combination of youth and experience promises to create depth and balance for the squad, while demonstrating coach Kim Sang-sik's long-term strategic orientation in building the next generation.

According to plan, the team will officially gather on October 4 in Thu Dau Mot ward, Ho Chi Minh City, with about a week to prepare for the first leg against Nepal at Go Dau stadium on October 9.

After that, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will move to the center of Ho Chi Minh City to play the second leg at Thong Nhat Stadium on October 14.

These are considered important matches, not only to accumulate points in the Asian Cup qualifiers but also to help the coaching staff evaluate the integration of young faces into the national team environment.
