(NADS) - On September 13th, after days of facing flooding, residents of Thac Ba town, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province continued to recover and return to normal life, despite facing many difficulties.
We visited the Thac Ba hydroelectric power plant, the first hydroelectric power plant built in Northern Vietnam. As of now, the Thac Ba dam is releasing water through all three spillway gates and running all three generators at maximum capacity, with the water level in the reservoir at 59.84m.

Down in the residential area near the Cultural and Sports Center of Thac Ba town, houses are still submerged in water, with floodwaters rising up to 2 meters in some areas. Most residents have been evacuated to other locations by the authorities.
At the Cultural and Sports Center of Thac Ba town, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province. "Three days ago, the water rose continuously and very quickly, reaching up to 2 meters in some places. We had to be on constant alert and evacuate residents promptly," shared Mr. Hoang Ngoc Han, head of the Cat Ba town police.
People struggled to move through the floodwaters. Warning ropes have been put up to indicate danger because the water level is still above head height in a residential area of Group 1, Thac Ba Town.
Water levels have been rising in residential area 4 of Thac Ba town, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province for the past 5 days. Many houses have been flooded up to the roof, forcing residents to evacuate to houses on the hills for temporary shelter. In some cases, people had to swim to get back into their homes.
Since the flooding, the area has been completely without electricity. Residents travel by boat and raft to get food from neighboring houses. It takes half a day to reach the Community Cultural Center by raft.
As the floodwaters receded, people began cleaning up after the flood. In Thac Ba town, there were no casualties, but most of the timber workshops suffered significant property damage. In residential area 4 of Thac Ba town, the floodwaters have gradually receded in many places.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen's family consists of four members: her husband, her eldest son who is in 10th grade this year, and her youngest daughter, who is in 8th grade and is an athlete for the Ministry of Public Security .
Despite washing clothes in floodwater and wearing the same clothes repeatedly for days because she couldn't get inside the house, Ms. Quyen remained optimistic. Residents of Thac Ba town, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province, are passing relief supplies from hand to hand at the community cultural center. Relief convoys are delivering essential supplies to the people of Thac Ba town. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong shared: "The water rose to more than half the height of our house, luckily we only suffered minor material damage. Besides that, it's very heartwarming to see people from all over the country caring for each other, coming to provide essential supplies and help the people." The children were delighted to receive aid sent from other localities.
