Street decorations
In the final days of the year, the work of landscaping workers beautifying the streets is busier than usual. These workers diligently care for each potted flower and plant of various types and colors. Around 7 a.m., Ms. Thi Hien, a worker from the Kien Giang Urban Environment Company, waters and cares for each potted flower and plant in the Phu Cuong roundabout area. Ms. Hien has been dedicated to landscaping on this street for over four years. Her daily joy comes from seeing the potted flowers and plants take root and sprout healthy green shoots.

Adjusting the amount of water for the newly arranged marigold pots, Ms. Thi Hien shared: "Every year leading up to Tet, we are busy taking care of flowers and pruning ornamental plants to decorate roads, median strips, roundabouts, and parks. We understand and cherish the work we are doing."
As the new year arrives, with the careful tending of the gardeners, the trees and flower buds sprout and bloom, adding beauty and brilliance to the spring landscape, welcoming the Lunar New Year. "Looking at these thriving flower pots and ornamental plants, I hope these flowers stay fresh for a long time so that people can admire them and take souvenir photos, contributing to spreading the joyful and vibrant atmosphere of spring," said Ms. Hien.
Working overtime near Tet (Lunar New Year)
The spring atmosphere is arriving in every family, bringing joy and reunions, and the streets are bustling. Somewhere along the roads and streets, sanitation workers are still diligently cleaning the pavements and sidewalks in these last days of the year. For them, Tet (Lunar New Year) is also approaching on these familiar roads. They continue their work so that everyone can enjoy the spring festivities in a green, clean, and beautiful environment.
At over 10 PM, Ms. Bui Thi Phuong, a resident of Rach Gia ward, was still sweeping garbage on Nguyen Trung Truc street. Having been dedicated to this job for over four years, Ms. Phuong is accustomed to working late. While sweeping, she said, “Our work starts at 8 PM and continues until we finish. At the end of the year, the amount of household waste increases, and sometimes I don’t finish until 1 or 2 AM. The work is normally hard, but it’s even harder these days, but we strive to complete our tasks.”
While workers like Ms. Hien typically start planting, caring for, and trimming trees to prepare for Tet (Lunar New Year), sanitation workers like Ms. Phuong may continue their work well into the first moments of the new year. Celebrating New Year's Eve on the streets, working while watching people celebrate, has become a habit. Despite the hardship, they never complain.
Not far away, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, an environmental sanitation worker from the Kien Giang Urban Environment Company, was diligently working. Loading garbage bags onto her cart, Ms. Tuyet confided: "For environmental sanitation workers, the time spent working on the streets during the end of the year is more than the time spent at home. I am proud to contribute to keeping the streets clean and making people happy when they go out during Tet."
