This event aims to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Vietnam Family Day (June 28, 2001 - June 28, 2026), while also honoring profound traditional and humanistic cultural values. Towards the message "Happy Family, Prosperous Nation" and promoting family values in the new era, daily and weekend activities at the "Common House" will focus on showcasing the unique cultural beauty and customs of various ethnic communities.
The highlight of this year's series of events is the program showcasing the unique cultural and tourism aspects of Gia Lai province. Here, the organizers will recreate the Sơmă Kơcham Festival, an important ritual of the Ba Na ethnic group aimed at purification and praying for peace and good fortune for the community. This deeply spiritual ritual clearly reflects the concept of balance between humans and the supernatural world held by the people of the highlands.
Besides the ceremonial part, the festival space will be further enlivened by the folk song and dance program "Celebrating Family Day." Visitors will enjoy various forms of Ba Na folk performances, along with musical and dance performances honoring the beauty of the Central Highlands villages, thereby arousing national pride and love for the homeland.
Meanwhile, the Gia Lai province exhibition space also promises to attract the public with activities promoting typical destinations, OCOP products, traditional handicrafts, and traditional musical instruments. Here, viewers can not only experience folk games but also have the opportunity to learn about the processing of traditional food and drinks that are extremely unique to the Ba Na people.
A notable new feature of the festival is the cultural connection across regions through the participation of families from Hung Yen in the "Vietnamese Family Home" themed event. The event provides an opportunity for families to showcase the beauty of traditional life in the Northern Delta region, perform folk art, promote local products, and foster interaction and connection with people from the Central Highlands.
This harmonious blend is further enhanced by the "Cooking Together with the People of the Central Highlands" experience program. Here, family members will participate in every step, from preparing ingredients to completing specialty dishes such as bitter gourd soup and bamboo tube rice. Conversely, families from Hung Yen will also showcase their cooking skills to introduce dishes with the flavors of their homeland to the people of the Central Highlands and visitors from all over.
In particular, on June 28th, the "Reunion as One Family" exchange program will be held as a grand festival for the ethnic groups active at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village. Through songs, dances, and folk performances, the communities will come together to celebrate Vietnamese Family Day, fully expressing the spirit of solidarity, mutual support, and close bonds.
Besides the highlight events, the festive atmosphere at the Village is always vibrant thanks to the enriching recreational spaces for students during the summer. Indoors, children can experience traditional games like O An Quan (a Vietnamese board game), checkers, and bamboo puppetry; while the outdoor area is bustling with activities like stilt walking, bamboo pole dancing, swinging, and seesaw. These simple folk games not only help the younger generation explore nature and the animal world but also contribute to developing thinking skills, dexterity, and strengthening friendships and family bonds.
The June series of activities involves more than 100 people from 16 ethnic groups across 11 localities nationwide, who are actively participating in daily activities at the Village. Specifically, on June 20th and 21st, 2026, the organizing committee will mobilize an additional 25 Ba Na ethnic people from Nghe village, Kong Chro commune, Gia Lai province to enhance the core experiential activities, providing the most complete and vibrant cultural space for the public.
