Every year, TKV Trade Union organizes to honor and reward workers' children with excellent academic achievements. Every year, thousands of students who are children of employees with high achievements are awarded by TKV General Director, with a total amount of billions of VND.
On the occasion of International Children's Day June 1, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Action Month for Children, TKV Trade Union and other units organized to give gifts and visit children of workers in difficult circumstances. The gifts not only have material value, but also show the deep concern of the Trade Union for the future generation.
Mr. Trinh Van An, Chairman of the Trade Union of Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company, said: This year, the TKV Trade Union supported 55 children of the Company's workers in especially difficult circumstances, 1 million VND/child; the Company's Trade Union visited and presented gifts to 118 children, along with 30 gifts from the company's departments and offices; presented school bags, desk lamps, and notebooks to 100 preschool children preparing to enter grade 1 at 14 preschools in Uong Bi City.
Along with child care activities, coal industry units focus on improving working conditions and living environment for workers, thereby creating a solid foundation for workers' children to develop.
A typical example is the “Union Shelter” program that has helped many families stabilize their housing and create favorable conditions for their children to study. The family of Mr. Giang Manh Khuong (a worker at the Transport Workshop 2, Uong Bi Coal Joint Stock Company) used to live in a cramped, dilapidated level 4 house. Thanks to the support of 60 million VND from the TKV Trade Union and the Company’s Trade Union, his family was able to build a spacious, solid house.
The company also created conditions for Mr. Khuong’s son to learn a trade and be recruited to work at the unit. “If the Union did not support the house building, my family would never have had a comfortable home like today. My son is able to learn a trade and has a stable job. That is the greatest joy for a father like me,” Mr. Khuong emotionally shared.
TKV Trade Union always stands side by side with workers in natural disasters and hardships. When storm No. 3 hit Quang Ninh on September 7, 2024, causing heavy damage to many workers' families, TKV Trade Union visited and encouraged them in a timely manner. Ms. Ha Phuong Chi (worker at Quang Hanh Coal Company), a single mother whose child had a congenital disease and whose house's roof was completely blown away after the storm, expressed: "The timely care of the Trade Union helped my child and I not feel alone. I have more strength to continue raising my child."
TKV Trade Union Chairman Le Thanh Xuan said that this year the Trade Union will continue to honor excellent students who are children of employees; at the same time, it will give gifts to about 2,400 disabled children and children in difficult circumstances (each child will receive 1 million VND); and visit 20 kindergartens in difficult areas.
Those persistent and practical activities not only improve the material and spiritual life of workers, but also contribute to nurturing the young generation of the Mining Region to develop comprehensively, contributing to the sustainable development of the homeland of Quang Ninh.
