Every year, the TKV Trade Union organizes a ceremony to commend and reward the children of workers who have achieved excellent academic results. Each year, thousands of students, children of TKV employees, who achieve high academic results are rewarded by the General Director of TKV, with a total amount of billions of VND.
On occasions such as International Children's Day (June 1st), Mid-Autumn Festival, and the Month of Action for Children, the TKV Trade Union, along with its units, organizes gift-giving and visits to the children of workers in difficult circumstances. These gifts not only have material value but also demonstrate the deep concern of the Trade Union for the future generation.
Mr. Trinh Van An, Chairman of the Trade Union of Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company, said: This year, the TKV Trade Union supported 55 children of company workers with particularly difficult circumstances, with 1 million VND per child; the company's Trade Union visited and presented gifts to 118 children, along with 30 gift packages from the company's departments; and donated school bags, desk lamps, and notebooks to 100 preschool children preparing to enter first grade at 14 preschools in Uong Bi City.
Alongside activities focused on caring for children, coal industry units prioritize improving working conditions and living environments for workers, thereby creating a solid foundation for the development of their children.
A prime example is the "Trade Union Shelter" program, which has helped many families stabilize their housing and create opportunities for their children's education. The family of Mr. Giang Manh Khuong (a worker at the Transportation Workshop 2, Uong Bi Coal Joint Stock Company) previously lived in a cramped, dilapidated house. Thanks to a 60 million VND grant from the TKV Trade Union and the Company's Trade Union, his family was able to build a spacious and sturdy house.
The company also facilitated opportunities for Mr. Khuong's son to receive vocational training and be hired to work at the unit. "If it weren't for the Trade Union's support in building the house, my family wouldn't know when we would have had such a comfortable home as we do today. My son has received vocational training and has a stable job. That's the greatest joy for a father like me," Mr. Khuong shared emotionally.
The TKV Trade Union always stands by its workers during natural disasters and calamities. When Typhoon No. 3 hit Quang Ninh on September 7, 2024, causing heavy damage to many workers' families, the TKV Trade Union promptly visited and offered encouragement. Ms. Ha Phuong Chi (a worker at Quang Hanh Coal Company), a single mother with a child suffering from a congenital disease, whose house was completely destroyed by the storm, expressed: “The timely concern of the Trade Union helped my child and me not feel alone. I have gained more strength to continue raising my child.”
According to Le Thanh Xuan, Chairman of the TKV Trade Union, this year the Trade Union will continue to honor outstanding students who are children of employees; and will also give gifts to approximately 2,400 disabled children and those from disadvantaged backgrounds (1 million VND each); and visit 20 preschools in difficult areas.
These persistent and practical activities not only improve the material and spiritual lives of workers, but also contribute to nurturing the comprehensive development of the younger generation in the mining region, contributing to the sustainable development of Quang Ninh province.
