Local forest rangers from Tan Son District Forest Management Unit, in coordination with residents of Thu Cuc commune, are discussing plans for patrolling and protecting the forest in the border area.
Recognizing the crucial role of border forests, the Tan Son Forest Ranger Station has proactively advised local Party committees and authorities to implement a comprehensive range of solutions to strengthen forest management and protection. The focus has been on maintaining regular forest patrols and inspections, especially in areas bordering the administrative boundaries of Xuan Dai and Thu Cuc communes, while also strengthening coordination with local authorities, functional forces, and the people in protecting forest resources.
Comrade Nguyen Duc Vinh, Head of Tan Son Forest Ranger Station, said: “Recognizing the particularly important role of border forests, we always prioritize forest protection. The Forest Ranger Station focuses on directing local forest rangers to closely monitor the situation, coordinate closely with the commune authorities, forest owners, and people to promptly grasp the situation and protect the existing forest area. To preserve the forest in the long term, the key factor is relying on the people. When people truly understand and consider the forest as a common asset that needs to be preserved, then forest protection will be effective.”
Along with the forest rangers, the authorities of the communes bordering the forest areas have also actively participated. Forest protection teams and groups have been maintained and their effectiveness enhanced; forest protection regulations and customs have been integrated into village activities. As a result, people's awareness of forest protection has gradually improved, creating consensus and spreading strongly throughout the community.
In addition, the Tan Son Forest Ranger Station regularly disseminates information and laws on forestry through various appropriate methods. The content of the dissemination focuses on clarifying the role and value of forests to the environment, livelihoods, and socio -economic development, helping people understand their rights, obligations, and responsibilities in forest management and protection. Through this, people not only strictly comply with legal regulations but also become "eyes and ears" supporting functional forces in detecting and preventing acts of forest encroachment. In 2025, the Station conducted 20 sessions with nearly 800 participants on forest management, protection, development, and forest fire prevention and control in administrative areas.
Having been closely associated with the forest for many years, Mr. Le Quang Dinh, a resident of Thu Cuc commune, shared: "The forest is not only a place of shelter, water conservation, and climate regulation, but also a long-term livelihood. Thanks to regular awareness campaigns, the people in the commune are clearly aware that protecting the forest is protecting their own lives. Whenever they see any unusual signs in the forest, the people proactively report it to the forest rangers or the commune authorities."
Beyond simply preserving the forest, many households in Xuan Dai and Thu Cuc communes are actively participating in reforestation, forest regeneration, and sustainable economic development under the forest canopy. Models of production forestry and non-timber forest product cultivation linked to forest protection are increasingly being replicated, contributing to increased income for the people and creating motivation for them to be more attached to the forest.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of forest rangers, local authorities, and the people, the forest area under the management of Tan Son Forest Ranger Station, especially the border forests, has always been maintained. The forests not only play a good role in protection and biodiversity conservation but also create an important foundation for socio-economic development.
Protecting the border forests is not only a professional task of the forestry sector but has become a shared awareness and responsibility of the entire political system and the local community. With concerted efforts, these forests continue to be preserved and developed sustainably, contributing to environmental protection and improving the quality of life for present and future generations.
