On the evening of May 30th (April 14th in the lunar calendar), the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha solemnly organized a procession of Buddha's relics and a parade of flower floats in Hanoi to celebrate the Great Buddha's Birthday, Buddhist Calendar 2570. This was one of the key activities leading up to the main Buddha's Birthday ceremony, which took place on the morning of May 31st at Quan Su Pagoda.
However, from early afternoon, the area around Quan Su Pagoda was already crowded with locals, monks, and Buddhist followers. For many, this was an important and unmissable event during the Buddha's birthday celebration.
Accordingly, the procession will start from the headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Association at Quan Su Pagoda, moving through Ly Thuong Kiet, Hang Bai, Dinh Tien Hoang, Le Thai To, Ba Trieu, and Hai Ba Trung streets before returning to the starting point.
The program is expected to involve approximately 500 dignitaries, monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers, along with 30-40 floats decorated with images of the Buddha's birth. The Buddhist Association hopes that Buddhist followers will participate with a pure and solemn mindset, and also proactively prepare their health to accompany the program throughout.
Preparations for the procession are now complete. At Quan Su Pagoda, the main hall and the Three Treasures area have been solemnly decorated according to Buddhist rituals. The cleaning of Buddha statues, arrangement of religious objects, fresh flowers, hanging of flags, and decoration of the festival space have been meticulously carried out. Quan Su Street is adorned with flags and flowers, creating a respectful atmosphere in anticipation of Buddha's birthday.
The area around the gate, the courtyard, and the main hall of Quan Su Pagoda was packed with people.
The vehicles carrying the Buddha's relics have undergone technical inspection to ensure safe operation throughout the journey. In addition, security and traffic safety measures have been prepared in advance due to the anticipated large number of people, monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers participating in the pilgrimage and veneration.
According to the plan, the authorities will deploy 100% of their personnel in key areas, especially the Quan Su Pagoda area and the routes the procession will pass through.
Mobile task forces were assigned specific duties to promptly handle any arising situations, minimize traffic congestion, and ensure the safety of attendees.
The procession of Buddha's relics and the parade of flower floats praying for national peace and prosperity will depart at 7 PM on May 30th (April 14th in the lunar calendar).
