At the ceremony, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province Pham Thanh Ngai presented the Certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to the Commemoration Ceremony of Thien Ho Duong and Doc Binh Kieu (the commemoration ceremony of two heroes who led the people of the Dong Thap Muoi region in the struggle to protect the Fatherland against the French colonial invasion in the years 1864 - 1866) and the Festival of the Goddess of Go Thap.

According to Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, this event is of special significance, demonstrating the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," expressing deep gratitude to ancestors, and affirming the historical depth, cultural identity, and enduring vitality of the people of Dong Thap in the process of national development.

Dong Thap province is committed to continuing to manage, preserve, and effectively promote the Go Thap cultural heritage; linking the preservation of traditions with historical education , sustainable tourism development, and building compassionate, dynamic, and creative people of Dong Thap.

According to Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Thien Ho Duong and Doc Binh Kieu were exemplary leaders of the resistance movement against the French in Southern Vietnam at the end of the 19th century. From the Dong Thap Muoi region, they raised the banner of patriotism, putting the people first, leaving behind a shining example of the unwavering and indomitable spirit of the nation. Because of this admiration, the people of Go Thap have preserved the tradition of worship and held memorial ceremonies for the two men for over 150 years.

Along with the commemoration ceremonies for Thien Ho Duong and Doc Binh Kieu, the festival honoring the Goddess of Go Thap, and other religious rituals, the local culture has become a vibrant source of life, reflecting the beliefs, aspirations, and humanistic identity of the people of Dong Thap Muoi. Through these rituals and festivals, the people express their hopes for a peaceful life, favorable weather, abundant harvests, and national prosperity; at the same time, they clearly demonstrate the rich, humanistic, tolerant, and community-cohesive culture of Southern Vietnam.

The 159th anniversary commemoration of Commander Duong and Commander Kieu will take place from January 2nd to 4th, 2026 (corresponding to the 14th to 16th day of the 11th lunar month).
