Be cautious about information on social media.

Currently, on social media platforms, it's not difficult to find sensational images and content that distorts the truth. Furthermore, many individuals crudely manipulate and manipulate content to misrepresent and undermine the Party and the State, slandering, defaming, and insulting the police force, other agencies, organizations, and individuals.

Furthermore, reactionary forces and political opportunists even use AI technology to spread deceptive, absurd, and baseless content to undermine the credibility of Party and State leaders; they post hot issues of public concern such as: appointments and placements of officials, fuel prices, salary reform, and state management in various fields… in order to attract support and channel subscriptions from the people with the aim of further inciting unrest by “infecting” with harmful, staged articles, images, and videos, increasing public skepticism towards the regime.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc An, Head of the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Dong Thap Provincial Police, urged every citizen participating in social media to focus on a core principle: Each individual must understand the spirit that "cyberspace is virtual, but legal responsibility is real." Posting and sharing information online must be done within the framework of the law. Any act of posting or sharing false information, or insulting the reputation, honor, or dignity of agencies, organizations, or individuals, will be severely punished according to the law.

Absolutely do not spread unverified information, nor disseminate or comment on inflammatory, sensational, or questionable information that has not been verified. Each instance of posting or sharing false information is not only irresponsible but can inadvertently aid subversive plots and lead to violations of the law.

Ultimately, we must shift from passive reception to active struggle and refutation by providing and sharing official information and resolutely boycotting harmful information streams.

To eliminate fake news and misinformation, everyone participating in social media needs to be vigilant against baseless and irrelevant information, and boldly report such "toxic information" to the authorities.

Creating a safe environment in cyberspace.

Given the increasing prevalence of fake news and harmful information online, people, especially young people, believe that each individual needs to raise their awareness and be more discerning when viewing and sharing unofficial information.

Thai Chau Trung Luong, a student at Dong Thap University, shared: “Social media is a double-edged sword; there are good things and bad things that exist. When posting information on social media, it's important to check if the information is accurate and legitimate. I think that when you post information, you have to take responsibility to the community. If the information is false, the person posting it must bear the consequences.”

Ms. Le Cuc Tu, residing in Cao Lanh ward, Dong Thap province, also stated: "I often use social media accounts to view news, share my personal life, and access useful information. However, for clickbait posts, I verify the information to ensure it's authentic before sharing."

"I usually view positive information to avoid being affected by negative and harmful news. I hope that participating in social media helps me relieve stress, so I absolutely do not interact with negative or harmful news online," shared Ms. Le Cuc Tu.

In the context of the entire political system focusing all resources on implementing Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation, the cybersecurity force has played a core and pioneering role in recent times.

Cybersecurity forces have implemented many decisive solutions in ensuring cybersecurity and preventing and combating high-tech crimes, resulting in clear and effective changes; advising leaders at all levels on strategic and important issues concerning national sovereignty, interests, and security.

Over the past year, the Dong Thap Provincial Police have aggressively implemented numerous solutions to protect a stable cybersecurity foundation. These include proactively monitoring the activities of online groups and communities, organizing meetings and connecting administrators of these groups, and launching the "Dong Thap Safe and Healthy Digital Space" model.

The provincial police also conducted inspections on the protection of state secrets and information security in cyberspace at agencies and units; intensified the dissemination of legal regulations and spread positive and insightful articles and videos, conveying the message of participating in social media in a civilized and sustainable manner.

Through 114 models of ensuring security and order, integrating the dissemination of newly enacted laws to encourage citizens to participate in and use the internet proactively and intelligently, the social media pages managed by the Provincial Police and the fan pages created by police units and localities have attracted more than 1 million followers and subscribers.

Simultaneously, the handling of fake news and misinformation has also been thoroughly addressed. From the beginning of 2026 to the present, the province's cybersecurity forces have detected and dealt with nearly 70 pieces of malicious and harmful information, preventing their widespread dissemination on social media and their negative impact on local security and order.

It is predicted that in the coming period, the digital technology revolution will continue to evolve, with artificial intelligence (AI) becoming a new trend, developing rapidly and having more diverse applications across all fields.

Therefore, when participating in social media, each citizen needs to equip themselves with a "protective barrier" by regularly updating information and knowledge. Be a proactive social media user to serve your personal needs on the platform, and strictly abide by the law.
