Agreement reached to open a public road in Nam Da.

Over 40 households in Nam Da commune (Lam Dong province) have voluntarily demolished their gates and fences, and cut down perennial trees to hand over the land for the construction of the main road 3. This consensus among the people has contributed to accelerating the progress of public works projects in the area.

The main road connecting three communes in Nam Da has been widened compared to the existing road.

In late May, upon learning that the main road 3 in Nam Son village (Nam Da commune) was being expanded, residents living along both sides of the road voluntarily dismantled walls and fences, and moved trees.

In just three days, all trees and structures were removed from the construction site, ensuring the project could be implemented on schedule.

The family of Mr. Tran Vinh Khuong (a local resident) is one of more than 40 households affected. Although the road expansion forced the family to demolish many already invested structures, after being informed and persuaded by the local authorities, Mr. Khuong's family agreed to comply.

Mr. Tran Vinh Khuong's family voluntarily removed their fence, gate, etc., to make way for road construction.

“The gate, fence, and yard were built by the family in 2022, costing over 20 million VND. Although we feel a little regretful, for the common good, the family voluntarily demolished them and handed over the land to the local authorities and the construction unit,” Mr. Khuong said.

According to the design, the new Route 3 road is approximately 1 km long and 12 m wide, upgraded from the existing 3.5 m wide road. From the centerline of the road, most households have crops and structures located within the project area. Therefore, land clearance is a crucial factor impacting the implementation.

Thanks to effective propaganda and mobilization efforts, local Party committees and authorities have received strong support from the people. Many households have proactively dismantled gates and fences, and cut down perennial trees without requesting assistance or compensation.

Thanks to effective public awareness campaigns, more than 40 households along the main road (Route 3) have agreed to dismantle their crops and structures.

Not only for the main road 3, but the Nam Da commune has maintained the effort for many years to encourage people to donate land and dismantle structures to facilitate the construction of public works.

The households are willing to voluntarily demolish fences, gates, concrete yards, and other structures worth from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of VND to hand over the land, contributing to speeding up the construction progress.

New roads have been upgraded and expanded thanks to the consensus of local people who have donated land.

Ms. Trinh Thi Chinh, a local resident, shared: “When the road expansion project was implemented, my family and many other households in the village all agreed because it is a project that brings common benefits to the community. With the roads widened, travel is more convenient, and transporting agricultural products is easier, so everyone happily supports it.”

In particular, during the construction process, many households contributed and assisted disadvantaged families in repairing previously dismantled structures.

Public consensus in land clearance is also one of the important factors that helps localities accelerate the progress of public investment projects.

Mr. Ngo Xuan Dong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Da commune, said that for public works projects, the locality always holds meetings to gather opinions from the people and create consensus before implementation. Villages that commit to handing over the land on schedule will be prioritized in the allocation of funds for project implementation.

The roads in Nam Da commune have been invested in, upgraded, and expanded partly thanks to the cooperation of the local people in land clearance.

"

The people not only agree with the policies but also directly contribute their labor and resources to serve the common good. This is a very important factor that helps localities accelerate the progress of infrastructure projects, bringing the works into use sooner, serving socio -economic development and improving the lives of the people.

Mr. Ngo Xuan Dong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Da Commune

The consensus of the people of Nam Da not only helped the projects be completed on schedule but also demonstrated a spirit of solidarity and responsibility for the common good of the community, creating a foundation for the locality to continue investing in and improving infrastructure to serve socio-economic development.
