According to coach Michael Weiss, the Philippines team could have secured a draw if they had capitalized on the opportunities and pressure created in the latter half of the second half. The home team relied on long balls but then allowed Vietnam to score another goal. However, according to the German coach, losing 0-1 or 0-2 makes no difference.

The German strategist was pleased with the spirit and performance of his players. The Philippine team couldn't play a style of continuous high-pressure football, so Weiss had to consider other options. The home team ceded possession but couldn't withstand the high-speed attacks.

He regretted the missed opportunity for Santiago Rubilico. If the 19-year-old defender had scored, coupled with the home advantage, things might have been different for the Philippines team.

In their next match, the Philippines will once again play at home against Indonesia. Coach Michael Weiss believes he and his players have an advantage as their opponents had to travel a long distance from Iraq. The Philippines will take risks and play offensively to try and make a difference.
