Studying abroad like a "poor kid"

(NLDO)- Studying abroad is not always glamorous, but it helps students become independent early, mature faster, and manage time, finances, and health.

On the morning of August 16, the Ho Chi Minh City Overseas Vietnamese Support Center (Ho Chi Minh City Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese) in collaboration with Hanbridge Academy Singapore organized a talk show "Preparing for the dream of studying abroad in Singapore - Perspectives from real people, real events.

There are two popular study abroad routes in Singapore: the public study abroad route (for students in primary and secondary schools) and the UK Bachelor's route (study in Singapore, receive a UK degree - this route is for students who have graduated from secondary schools).

Nguyen Song Thao Huong shares her journey of studying abroad and graduating from a UK university (studied in Singapore) at the age of 18.

At the program , Nguyen Song Thao Huong (born in 2006), graduated from a British university (studied in Singapore) at the age of 18 and is currently a global accountant at Pizza 4P's Vietnam, shared about how to allocate her school schedule with rest and entertainment time, as well as the difficulty of the program, the job application process and lessons about early independence.

"Being independent from an early age helps me mature faster, but it also requires the ability to manage time, finances and health. Studying abroad is not always glamorous but it is worth the experience," Huong shared.

With two children studying in Singapore, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Minh, a former employee of Vietcombank in Ho Chi Minh City, moved many people when she shared her decision to quit her job to go abroad to take care of her two children. She talked about the initial bewilderment, how to manage living expenses reasonably, shopping, cooking and even simple recreational activities that help the family stay relaxed.

Ms. Minh also shared how to help parents and Vietnamese students find suitable accommodation. "I understand the concerns of parents when their children are far away. Therefore, I am willing to support families in finding suitable accommodation, close to school, convenient and safe for children to travel to," Ms. Minh said.

Singapore is a leading financial center in Asia and a dream educational destination for millions of international students. Singapore has an advanced, serious, disciplined education system, associated with innovation, helping each international student not only grow in knowledge but also train their courage and life skills.

Vietnam is entering a new era - the era of national development, so it needs many personnel who are good at foreign languages and proficient in professional skills to meet the requirements of integration and development. Studying abroad is one of the ways to help young people equip themselves with comprehensive knowledge, foreign languages, life skills and a global vision.
