(Dan Tri) - During the past two weekends (August 16-17), the Management Board of Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area (Tay Ninh) rescued 3 cases of accidents while conquering this mountain.

According to information from the Management Board, all three cases were groups of tourists who lost their way in the dark and could not determine their location. When rescued, the victims were not injured but fell into a state of exhaustion when they could not find a way out.

Ba Den Mountain is quite easy to conquer during the day within the safe hours from 6am to 12pm. However, due to the terrain having many complex turns, for those who lack experience and are unfamiliar with the road, the risk of having an accident at night is very high.

The incidents were mainly due to adverse weather, rain and darkness that made the roads slippery and dangerous, causing tourists to lose their way, the Management Board of Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area added.

In addition, lack of experience and inadequate preparation of protective equipment are also factors that can cause accidents.

Ba Den Mountain is 986m above sea level, known as the "Roof of the South", famous for its sacred pagoda system, majestic natural landscape and is a destination that attracts millions of visitors every year.

In addition to spiritual tourism, mountain climbing here also attracts many tourists who love adventure experiences. However, there have been some unfortunate incidents when tourists got lost while climbing.

Another group of tourists were assisted at around 8:00 p.m. on August 17 (Photo: Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area Management Board).

In July 2024, a group of four people got lost and exhausted while following the mountain trail. Notably, one member of the group accidentally slipped and fell, was injured and had to use the phone to call for help. Immediately after, dozens of soldiers were mobilized to the scene, conducted a search and rescue, and brought the victims down the mountain safely.

Just a short time later, in August 2024, another case also encountered a similar incident. A tourist with no experience in climbing, not fully equipped with necessary equipment, got lost and could not find the way out, had to call for help.

Previously, in early 2015, there was an incident where 20 students from many universities in Ho Chi Minh City got lost while climbing Ba Den Mountain and could not find their way down. That very night, nearly 100 people including police, riot police, rescue forces and local people had to urgently search and rescue.

The Management Board said that all tourists in distress were promptly assisted by rescue teams. However, this incident is also a warning about ensuring safety when participating in mountain climbing activities here.

The Management Board emphasizes that visitor cooperation is key to ensuring a safe and enjoyable climbing experience.

To avoid unwanted incidents, the Management Board of Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area has some recommendations for visitors:

Register personal information: All visitors need to register information at the Management Board's security checkpoint before starting the mountain climbing journey.

Comply with safety and environmental protection regulations: Visitors must strictly comply with regulations throughout the climbing process to protect themselves and preserve the natural environment.

Ensure good health and adequate protective equipment: Participants need to be in good health and equipped with necessary protective equipment to deal with unexpected situations.

Climbing time: Visitors should only climb between 6am and 12pm, because outside of this time, light and weather conditions are not safe.

Avoid climbing in bad weather: Never climb in rain, storms, thunder or strong winds. Visitors should check the weather forecast before deciding to climb.

Contact immediately in case of accident: In case of danger, contact the rescue team immediately at 0276.387.5678.
