On April 30th, Phu Quoc International Airport announced that approximately 36 flights brought passengers to Phu Quoc Island today. Tomorrow, May 1st, the airport anticipates around 39 flights to the island.
Ferries and speedboats from Rach Gia City and Ha Tien City to Phu Quoc City operate approximately 50 trips per day to transport tourists to the island for the April 30th holiday.
During the April 30th and May 1st holidays, many tourists from the Mekong Delta are choosing to escape the heat in Phu Quoc with family and friends. In particular, tourists really enjoy tours that involve camping in tents, watching the sunset, fishing, and feeding the sea urchins (known as betta fish) in Phu Quoc.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam - director of Tam Dang Khoa speedboat company (An Thoi ward) - said that in the days leading up to the April 30th holiday, tourists seemed to be not booking speedboat tours to visit the four islands (Hon Gam Ghi, Oc Mong Tay, May Rut Trong and May Rut Ngoai) in An Thoi ward.
Since April 27th, Phu Quoc has seen a surge in both domestic and international tourists.
"Yesterday we ran 22 speedboat trips to take tourists on a four-island tour in Phu Quoc. The majority of the tourists were from the Mekong Delta. They really enjoyed swimming, snorkeling to see the coral reefs, and feeding the betta fish. They swam close to the shore and were carefully supervised and guided by staff to ensure their safety," Mr. Tam emphasized.

"Tours involving camping in tents and going out to sea for fishing are very popular with tourists. Once they catch fish, tourists can grill and eat them with their families. Tourists are very satisfied and happy with this experience," said Mr. Vu Van Hau, representative of Loi Dinh Phu Quoc Tourism Service Trading Company Limited, adding that tourists are guaranteed safety, have life vests, and are covered by insurance.
"Phu Quoc has beautiful beaches and clear blue water this season. The 3-island tour I took today was a great experience. Swimming freely in the sea, admiring the coral reefs, and feeding the fish was wonderful. I often hear about price gouging in Phu Quoc, but here I saw that the prices were clearly listed. I will definitely come back to Phu Quoc next time," said Ms. Lam Thi Chan, a tourist from Soc Trang.
The Kien Giang Department of Tourism announced today that Kien Giang is expected to welcome nearly 68,300 visitors, including 3,990 international tourists. Of these, Phu Quoc City is estimated to receive nearly 29,500 visitors; total tourism revenue is projected at 102.3 billion VND.
