On April 29th, at Sa Ky port (Binh Chau commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province), a large number of passengers flocked to the counters to buy tickets, complete procedures, and queue in long lines to board high-speed boats to Ly Son island for sightseeing and tourism .

According to Ta Cong Chuc, Deputy Director of the Port Management Board and Inland Waterway Authority of Quang Ngai province, the number of visitors to the islands during the April 30th - May 1st holiday this year increased threefold compared to normal days.

On April 27th and 28th alone, approximately 4,500 tourists visited Ly Son Island, and on April 29th, nearly 2,000 tourists visited the island. The Sa Ky Port Management Board arranged for dozens of additional high-speed and super-speed ferry trips to serve the needs of tourists, with a frequency of more than 30 minutes per trip.

“Normally, there are about four ferry trips to the island. However, during holidays, the number of tourists increases dramatically, so the port management board has planned to increase it to 15-17 trips per day to ensure that all passengers are transported to Ly Son,” Mr. Chuc said.

It is expected that the number of visitors to Ly Son Island will decrease somewhat during the remaining two days of the holiday, but will still remain high, with an estimated figure of around 1,000 - 1,500 people per day.

According to the Ly Son District People's Committee, last year, the total number of visitors to the island reached 170,000, including nearly 2,000 international tourists. Recently, the number of tourists visiting the island has been increasing, so infrastructure and accommodation facilities have also been invested in and upgraded.

Currently, Ly Son has 130 accommodation establishments, including 23 hotels, 47 guesthouses, and 55 homestays. Since the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, the number of visitors to Ly Son has steadily increased, with a surge during the April 30th - May 1st holiday. At this time, all hotels, guesthouses, and homestays are fully booked.

“We are encouraging owners of guesthouses, homestays, hotels, etc., to publicly display their prices. In cases of illegal profiteering, if discovered, the local authorities will handle them strictly,” said Pham Thi Huong, Chairwoman of the Ly Son District People's Committee.

According to Ms. Huong, Ly Son has identified tourism as its key economic sector. However, development must be linked to the overall spatial planning towards becoming a marine and island tourism center, in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 26-NQ/TW dated November 3, 2022, of the Politburo on "Developing socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the North Central and Central Coastal regions until 2030, with a vision to 2045".
