Commercial flights from Tuan Chau to Co To expected to open in July

On June 1, Hai Au Aviation Joint Stock Company (Thien Minh Group) surveyed the take-off and landing conditions of the flight route from Tuan Chau Island (Ha Long ) to Co To and trained seaplane pilots in Co To district. It is expected that in July 2023 , Hai Au Aviation Joint Stock Company will operate a commercial flight route from Tuan Chau (Ha Long ) to Co To to serve tourists .

Comrade Nguyen Viet Dung, Secretary of Co To District Party Committee, and the working delegation of Hai Au Aviation Joint Stock Company discussed and surveyed flight routes to prepare conditions for opening a commercial flight route in Co To district in July 2023.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Hai, Captain of the Seaplane of Hai Au Aviation Joint Stock Company, said: The opening of the flight route will help reduce the travel time from Ha Long City to Co To Island to 20 minutes (previously 90 minutes). During the entire journey, visitors will be able to see Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, Ngoc Vung Island, Quan Lan, Minh Chau and the whole view of Co To Island from above, experiencing the majestic landscape of nature from a new perspective.

The aircraft used to operate the route is manufactured by Cessna Caravan, a member of the Textrol Aviation Group, USA. It is certified as the world's largest single-engine aircraft and also the safest single-engine aircraft when landing on water (according to FAA - Federal Aviation Administration and ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization), meeting standards for stability, fuel efficiency and safety. The Cessna seaplane is considered capable of flying and landing in any water area or ground runway area.

Aircraft with registration number VN-B468 has just completed a flight surveying the flight route at Co To island.

“Our Hai Au airline has been licensed and operates with safety standards as prescribed. We have been operating and experiencing 10 years of operation in Ha Long Bay and ensure 100% of flights are absolutely safe. Surveys in Co To island district show many advantages for flight routes, so we are confident that we have all the conditions and standards to put into operation and open flights to Co To island,” Mr. Nguyen Ba Hai added.

Along with coordinating with businesses to open flights from Ha Long City to Co To Island, preparing for this peak summer tourism season, Co To district has also deployed a series of new products that promise to attract and meet the diverse tourism and resort needs of tourists such as scuba diving to see corals, fun activities on the beach; developing more types of night economy such as beach bars, overnight camping, culinary streets, walking streets, cultural and artistic events, etc. Thereby exploiting the potentials and advantages, promoting tourism development, affirming the attraction and brand of Co To tourism on the map of Vietnam tourism.
